I can't decide if I want to go the 2x2 or single quad route on my 8BA. This would be a daily driver...?

If it's got a hood just run the stock single carb, never open the hood in public, and tell the hoipoloi whatever they want to hear.

Although DrJ has a good idea, a 4 brl works nicely on a fresh 8BA. The manifolds (1 x 4) are a bit pricey.
I ran a 300 CFM 4 brl. Holley on my engine for a couple of years.
    Good idle and economy.

I guess you've got a point, methinks the 4 barrel would be more uh...easy

I have one of each setup. I like the 390 CFM Holly 4bbl with automatic choke best. The two 97's seem to suck up a lot of gas but look cool with no hood. I just got ahold of a stock '50 Merc manifold that takes a 4 bolt 2bbl, I assume Holly. I've never seen one like it before; no adapter.

You can use any small 4 bolt base carb like a 2100 Holley, or a2g Rochester. I have a bunch of the 4 bolt base Holley's and some of them go to 320 CFM.

FWIW...I'm in the process of porting a Merc 4 bolt intake to run a 2G on. Good economy and you can "hot rod" the 2g's out to 500 cfm's if you like. Plus it's a lot cheaper for the intake than the hi-perf ones. I picked mine up for 30 bones at a swap.

  9. Go with the 2x2. It runs much better than the stock setup and is much more traditional and better looking than a 4bbl. A 4bbl may be easier, but so would a SBC, and we dont want that over a Flattie now do we:D

  10. Hey,

I've known people who have used the 2G with excellent results...
