<TABLE width="90%"><TBODY><TR><TD>Has anyone tried using a pair of variable venturi carbs like the SU side drafts on a model A engine? Would these help both the low end response as well as the open throttle mixture? My engine is .100 over, Stipe 330 touring cam 7:1 compression full oiling etc. With 16" tires I need an OD to keep the revs in check and then it will need more power again. I think it could use a little more breathing. Anybody try something like this? Ain't going to be much room for air cleaners. Thanks **** </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Thanks I have a pair of HIF SU's and just need to see if they will clear the hood enough to put on air cleaners. Thanks ****
bettlesr, Welcome to the HAMB! They are a bit fussyThe nice things about SU's is that it's just about impossible to overcarb the engine. If you do a search, you can find a few good threads about using SU's AND take a look at the monthly banger threads- there's LOTS of great info on modifying 4's. By the way, where are you in Jersey?
Hi! I have played with these on my old TR3 years ago and on a Mini. Not to bad to work on once you get the hang of it. I'm on Florham Park. Thanks ****
Manifold looks great, did you make it yourself? Any chance of getting a picture of the bellcrank for the throttle linkage? Let me know how it runs when you drive it. Thanks ****
