1942 Chevy vandalized

Sounds like something a bunch of stupid kids might do. Hopefully they can figure out who it was and make them pay to fix all of the damage.

 

Havi, I posted this here this morning after seeing on the FTE site. I thought the members here would find it interesting. It lasted here until late this afternoon until the powers that be closed it down and pulled the post. The PMed me to let me know they closed it down. I guest it wasn't within board criteria. As least it got out there for all to see for a while. I would guess they're going to pull this thread too.

Man I'd be pissed!!!! Doesnt look like the body was all that banged up though...could fix it. I've seen guys on here start with worse stuff, but still why would someone do that

 

Bob, if it gets pulled, I understand. Just thought I'd post it for those in the FL area, that may be close by to either, A) help the old guy out, and/or B) make sure their own rides are protected in case if they try to do it again.

 

Sure the truck looks like it can be repaired, but remember he is 80 and if he does it himself it is a time concern. He should try to remember if he pissed someone off and this is their revenge.

 

My only question is what did he do?

Whoever did that went to town! to go to those extremes he must've upset someone. Just cos you own a lovely truck doesn't mean you can't be a total a$$hole

 

What the ****? I really hope you're not that damned clueless. I don't give a **** how much of an ***hole an 80 yr old hot rodder can be, I'd still pay good money to shove my size 11 steel-toed Doc's up the vandals ***es.

 

No no, I'm not condoning the frankly disgusting action taken on the vehicle. Its just the news item does not seem to investigate the issue itself. Its apparrent that the vandalism occurred inside his garage. Why would anyone do that? If people are jealous generally they'll key the paint work but that is ridiculously extreme in its ambition to offend the owner.

I feel really sorry for the truck, what a shame for a beautiful machine!

 

It's a reminder that there are some really sick people out there who get their jollies destroying something that is the pride and joy of someone else.

There could be way too many theories on why someone did that damage.

Some of the Duplicates have been Deleted, and the ones that got completely out of hand with people trying to outdo eachother by posting what they would like to do to the vandals.

 

It looks like insurance money will pay for some of the restoration and the owner of C & C Rod Shop will pick up the rest.

Hate to see things like that happen. Just a thought here. Why is it so important to have the truck at the show? Here's what I mean. Was the truck a shoe in for an award? Was it destroyed to keep from entering? Just my thoughts here.

 

They may have (since this happened a while back) put it on display damaged in hope that someone who doesn't watch the news or read the paper would come up with some info on who did the damage to the truck.

As the gent is 80 some of the usual nonsense shouldn't apply such as an ex wife or her new boyfriend, girlfriends husband or other boyfriend or some other person that thinks they are mad enough at him to do the damage.

Someone mad because he wouldn't sell him the truck? relative mad because he was planning on leaving the truck to a different relative?
Some have not just jealous because he has something nice and they don't?
Some kids who think because it's old they have the right to destroy it? Someone who tried to steal it but couldn't get it started or get the door open so they destroyed it? the list goes on and on.

 

I cannot imagine vandals dragging a car outside to torch. Thats a lot of work for vandals and they aren't usually that ambitious.

If I were a cop or an insurance investigator, I would sure have my su****ions. I have no facts to base anything on and neither does anyone who has posted.
Unless it is investigated we will never know the truth. Any way you look at it, it is a lousy deal.
