I have a 327 with a tripower intake only one carb on it now and I am having trouble with the oil fill tube leaking out of the vent cap. It seems to be blowing oil back out the tube and filling the cap full of oil and leaking all over the top of the engine. Wondering if there is a fix for the tube or the cap Thanks, Alphonse
As he asked, how is the engine vented besides the breather cap on the fill tube. PCV valve, Road draft tube or not vented? If it isn't vented besides the cap on the fill tube the pressure built up in the crankcase will blow oil film out that cap. Road draft tubes don't work well except at road speeds and if they are bent or modified they usually don't work well at all. They have to stick down in the air flow for a venturi effect to draw the fumes and pressure out of the crank case.
On my 327 there is a vent tube coming out of the block adjacent to the distributor. It vents to the air cleaner. You must have the baffle installed under the manifold.
"Venting to the air cleaner" says the engine was built with a pcv system...it drew clean air in, via the air cleaner. I'd go back to a pcv syatem,,,,Keeps the bottom of the car a lot cleaner !! 4TTRUK
