Wife, I and 6 y/o are here and am wondering what's happening (Hot Rod & Low Rider related), even though it is RAINING here in Redondo beach!! Going to the LORDZ open house but that's not till next weekend. Any suggestions, other than the normal Disney, Sea World, etc????
On a ****py weekend like this you could check ou the Petersen Auto Museum http://www.petersen.org/ Or the NHRA museum http://museum.nhra.com/
Here is a link to the Broiler in Downey. Post #1484 is about today but it's a wash out, but however Cyclone Kevin and myself and other Broilers will be there tonight for a lil Corn Beef & Cabbage. The next post #1485 the Broiler will be hoisting Bill Hines 90th Birthday. So if your still in the area come down for that. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=409637&page=75 Location is at, 7447 Firestone Blvd. Downey Ca. 90241.
Yes, next Sat. is Bill Hines. Tonight is just us guy's and gal's that hang out shoot the breeze and love what the Broiler is all about. A 1958 surviver with alot of history.
That place was *****EN'!!!! To bad the weather was ****, sure it is happening on nicer days/evenings. Didn't see any HAMB riff raff there. But we had fun. That old sign of the "little boy" in the Parking lot corner was pretty cool!!!!
When did you swing by. I was there from 7pm till Midnight. That "little boy" use to be out front up where the revolving Big Boy is now at the end of the big red Broiler sign. He use to light up from inside and had animatated revolving lighting around him when the Broiler was Harvey's in 58 then later became Johnies.
Ruben H. Fleet Space Museum has a lot of hands-on stuff for kids young and OLD in Balboa Park, not to mention the Aerospace, and Automotive Museums. Can't miss the San Diego Zoo...sit and rest your feet while watching the monkeys screw around!!! The bus tour is worth it, tough to see it all on foot. There is also free trams that will shuttle you around the park, stopping at different museums. The old lighthouse on the tip of Point Loma is pretty neat. Stop at Ft. Rosecrans cemetary to pay homage to our heroes and drink in the view of San Diego bay. How much time will you have in 'Dago and where are you staying? Once we know that, we can hook you up for good eats around town and other stuff to do. Have Fun, Tim
Not sure of the exact time, somewhere around dinner time, as my little girl was hungry, we went by, then up to Target then a quick U-turn thru the parking lot again on our way back to the hotel.
You could go by the Barris shop and Brad Mastersons shop too if you want to see a bit of Kustom history...? Barris Shop 10811 Riverside Drive North Hollywood, CA 91602 Brads Shop (old barris shop) 11070 atlantic ave. Lynwood, CA 90262
