1964 Galaxie question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SammyDel_lame, Mar 17, 2012.

  1. I'm trying to buy rear wheel cylinders for my 64 galaxie but I ran into a problem. The shop manual says to use the wheel cylinder with the 15/16 bore for the Police Interceptor or the 7/8 bore for the sedan or Taxi or model? So my problem is, what do I have? I have a 64 galaxie 2 door fastback with a 352 and auto trans. The ford ID plate on my door says the body style is 63B but when decoding the rest of the numbers, it says nothing about a police interceptor or taxi? I'm confused??

Cop cars and taxis historically are pretty much universally all four-doors. The odds that you have something other than a 2 door sedan are very slim... (7/8" bore)

  3. Oh yeah! Duh, I never thought about that.

Police, taxi and high-performance used bigger brakes, like my '62 406 car, big drums- they make the brakes on my '62 390 ragtop look like soup bowls, and they're actually pretty strong brakes
