well it was either Radirs or '57 Cadillac hubcaps. my dad was lucky enough to have found a set of Caddys at last years HRR. my uncle sold me his 15" wheels to put these on, hence the black tires. i will be switching to wide whites of course. What's a good sized 15" tire to run? i know Kelly Tires makes a 4" white wall, but does anyone else make them that big? i like more white than black on the sidewall. last question, what's a good vinyl cleaner?
If you want to run a 4" WW you are going to need a huge tire. This will cause clearance problems and affect steering. And if you are going to stick with radials its going to limit the size of the WW too. Since you already have a set of tires on your car, measure the diameter and use that size to to see how much bigger you are able or willing to go. The go to Coker or Diamond back or any other site that lists sizes and see what will work for you and what size WW they come with. I wanted a bigger WW too but settled for a 2 1/2" because I was trying to go lower and a big tire defeated the purpose of all the suspension work I did. The Whitewall candy store is in Orange. Go talk to them, they have the tires made and they might be able to get a bigger WW for you.
I probably would never have known if you didn't post that. I thought I exhausted my search for bigger whites. I just did a quick search and came up with the Goodyear Super cushion 4 ply poly at Kelsey tire inc. Does anyone on the west coast carry them? And how well do they hold up? At 125.00 a tire, thats a great price too.
this where everyone around these parts gets bias tires from. http://wallacewade.com/vintage.htm website is useless, but email them and/or get their phone number and phone them on Tues. The employees are very nice there.
I get my whitewalls at Lucas in Long Beach. Here's a link, you might find something you like. It seems to me I usually saw people running Denman whitewalls when they wanted really wide whites. Hope this helps. -Scotty http://www.lucascl***ictires.com
i have some 6.70 denmans on my car now. the're real wide, but the tire just doesn't look as cool as a Firestone or Goodyear. same with BFGs.
