Stupid question- Ford banjo rear pinion removal?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Mar 18, 2012.

  1. Hey guys...I know this may sound stupid...but how do you remove the pinion gear from the banjo? With the double tapered race I assume the race has to come out before the pinion and rear pinon bearing? I looked in my book and it shows a tool AATA-1. I have no such tool, is there another way to do this?

This is a 35-36 center section if that matters.

    Chris,
My old Ford book shows a special pulller for pinion removal. There is also a special fixture for heating the housing to re-install the pinion bearing and pinion as an assembley. I can scan and copy the picture if you want.
