i have replaced the o rings twice in the tube between the front and rear float bowls of my holley 4 barrel, and now it's leaking again. each time it leaks from the rear bowl. wth? the second time i replace the o rings it drove fine for a few weeks, then on monday my ignition switch grenaded and the car had to sit until today(sunday) before i was able to replace the switch. as soon as i started it up it was leaking again. after the first time i was very careful installing the tube because i ***umed i damaged the seal during installation, so is it me or is this carb. the issue.
Bad scene. Californias blended gas eats rubber I think ... I had the same problem with single-pumper ... finally went with the Q-jet with peace of mind no rubber body seals in standing fuel... less chance of engine fire.
As of recently, Ive been using the more expensive(because of blended fuel) made for alcohol fuel rings. Havent had a problem with the last three I did like that.
Did you put a drop of oil (or something) on the O rings before you put it together? Did you carefully inspect the tube and the holes to make sure they're not messed up?
Just what I was thinking, I use a little Vaseline and don't slide them up the tube. I gentle put the tube in the hole and let the O-ring seat it's self where it needs to be on the tube. Also make sure you don't have an old piece of **** in the bowl where the tube goes into mucking things up.
if you push too hard you can roll the o ring back over the flare and it will not seal Like Swade said....ask me how I know.
X-2. I just did one yesterday. No problems. If it's modern fuel that's the culprit as someone suggested....It won't happen THAT fast. So, again, what Squirel said
Or, get the newer style transfer tube that has a modern seal, a lot nicer and idiot proof on installation.
