If my worn out memory is working, John Dianna is Little Buckaroo Publications, he was one of the editors of Car Craft in the 60's and 70's and a M/P racer ('56 sedan delivery), and moved the operation from Califronia to NC or TN in an effort to reduce costs and also bought American Rodder from Pisano Publications (Easy Rider) and he got Gerry Burger in a deal when he bought the remains of Rodders Digest.
Jerry Weesner did a spread on my car in the early 90,s did a wonderful job hell when I was out in cal on vac took me in to the art room to show me my cover it was as good as any,,,.....and what a gentleman the old one did not **** as bad as the 40 buck a issue new ones I ,m glad I sold my collection 5 yrs ago got my dough back
Now are you referring to Rod Action or Rodders Digest or?? Just about everyone of the magazines from the 50's up until now usually have something of interest in them that an open mind can enjoy. The magazines didn't used to be as slick as they are now and didn't spotlight the pro builders. I kinda miss the how-to articles that were shot in a one car garage. .
May 1977 - Somethings extra. I had a flathead in her then and you can see the picture of the engine was reversed in the issue. Ever see a flathead where the distributor coming out on the drivers side? Dual coil distributor. From the time the pictures were taken and the mag hit the rack, I had installed a 289 and C4. Mistake, the flathead ran stronger and faster.
53 Merc bored and strocked and balanced out to 296. I sold it for $285 and thought I had hit a gold mine. Dumb *** me!
I could of swear it was ra but but you may be right cuz i showed up unanownced and they were just doin the cover a pops surpised me as lay out was just finished 20 min. before I showed up
Question: Exactly WHEN did Rod Action and Rodder's Digest go "bad"? When was Tex at the helm? When did Buckaroo buy RD? Thanks, JH
