late 30's ford front axle

    I bought a ford front axle complete with shocks, brake cables,wish bone and wheels. it has round spindle backs, wide 5 bolt pattern, and cable brakes. what year is it? 38? 39??

    It'd be a 37-38, 39 is the first year of hydraulic brakes. 37-41 used the same spindles.

    Sounds like a '37 or '38....But someone could have put those drums on an earlier axle. Post a few clear pics of the axle(perch and king pin area).

    36 had rod mechanicals, 37 & 38 were cable brakes

    You've got the makings of a nice hotrod front end. The 37-41 spindles accept the favorite drum and disc setups readily available.
