oh why,oh why, did i get old! i should have stayed young and smart and been a know-it-all like all the others. i post on the cl***ifieds because it makes me feel like a big shot.it' like graffiti, i can't stop. society wants me to respect other people's property, but i must be heard or like the new homos, celebrated! that's why we post on the cl***ifieds.

Anyone who's warmed a seat in Psych 101 knows that people do things in spite of any stinkin' rules. Society is based on the carrot and and the stick, reward and punishment. Hospitals, mental facilities, jails, prisons, and the grave yard are filled with people who ignored the rules, the directions, the little lightin' bolt on the electrical box and the skull and cross bones on the bottle, real and metaphorical. It's human nature to ignore stuff, and break rules, and sometimes people do it just to get a buzz. And, of course others break the rules to get attention. My question is with computer programming being what it is, why is it even possible to do do this? Instead of wondering why the cow wandered off, wouldn't it be better to check the fences and the gates? I mean those who lay claim the throne should have a few wizards lyin' around polishing their wands, shouldn't they? If I were King, I would tell Izzy to block anyone being able to make a comment, period. They could post a message to the seller and that'd be it. End of story.

Man, you got way too philosophical with this.
How 'bout no more references to college psych cl***es? (insert smiley face making a wink, not in a suggestive way, just a wink that conveys a sense of lightheartedness.)

PM's are treated like pop ups on some operating systems. Some people don't even know they get them.

    Really?
The cl***ifieds are based on he who PM ’s the seller gets the item.
There’s no reason for the seller to go look at his ad for replies every 5 seconds …. He’s going to check his messages for buyers.
So therefore he who replies on the ad isn’t going to get his message (in the wrong place) seen in time to get the item.

You must buy and sell really fast........

If you PM reply to an add and the seller never gets back to you, how do you know the status of the sale?

This is very common.....so guess where the next reply is likey to go?

Have you ever sold anything on this site?

I have … many times and it totally piss’s me off when at the end of three days when I finally get to bump my ad …. I find it buried 30 pages down under all the other ad’s
Mostly ad’s with questions that brought them back to the top and sometimes ad’s that are years old bumped to the top by new people … all who obviously cant comprehend this simple system.

It’s real simple …. every time you ask a question , every ad under it go’s down one spot = ****s for all them sellers.

this is why us "old" people still like phone numbers. if the part is still avalible, he'll just tell. no back and forth typing, just a 40 sec. phone call, and it's done.

Nope ... We still don't see any pic! ... just this:

    Capture Post #44.JPG
    click thumbnail to enlarge

If I look at the underlying code for your reply in post #44, I do see that you were trying to display an image with a Picture ID of 325304 stored in HAMB album #25373 ... Is it possible that you have that particular album's "Album Type" set to "Private - Only visible to contacts and moderators" ... if so, this would explain why the majority of HAMBers see no pic! ... and you haven't sold the item!

Fun facts about the English language:

    * The abbreviated version of the word "Addition" is "Add".

    * The abbreviated version of the word "Adverti*****t" is "Ad".

    :D

Another board I am on ( Buick board) uses this proceedure and it has worked well to clear up confusion as to who is in line. It was a big problem beforehand.

1.Post a price for the item being offered.

2.Post a location of the item.

3.Work with the interested parties to complete the sale, in the order that they showed interest in your item. This interest must be shown with a public reply to your thread, Personal Messages (PM's) or emails are not acceptable communication requirements for "getting in line" to purchase an item. We suggest 48 hours as an acceptable time period to allow interested parties to contact you privately.

4.If the first user who responds to your ad does not complete the sale, you move onto the second person who responded, and so on and so forth down the list, until the item is sold. This list is dictated soley by the public replies to your ad.

5.You will not accept other offers or negotiate outside of these guidelines.

6.You will not refuse to sell the item to anyone, for any reason, unless a moderator or the board administrator is involved and Ok's the denial.

I have no problem with the rules here on this board. There is a lot more traffic here, so can see the how ads that get responses push the other ads down out of sight too quickly.

Seems like this way would avoid a lot of confusion. A lot of the ads on here seem to be bumped ads. This causes ads to be moved down also. At some point it should be evident that no one is interested for whatever reason. Some ads are several months old with a bunch of bumps.
