Here is a better picture of the El Capitola on the trading card. And here are some pictures of the car when it was just finished in the late 50's early 60's
I like the caps! The've got kind of a halibrand feel to me. Granted, i can think of a lot better cars that i would rather use them on than that one. I like the overall car, but should be draggin the ***, and i think 4t64rd said that he liked it better in the gold, and i agree. I think it might look a little "sleadier", with side pipes or some short bellflowers. Just my useless observation.
i would have driven it when it was pink and white still. i wouldve loved to have someone call me a sissy in it, cause i love to fight.
Man,,,thats really kool to know its still around,,,I thought that one was loooong gone....I agree tho, I like it better w/the Gold and the hubcaps kill it...The interior is sooo damn insane! I love it...
Goober. Pink and Purple is the same color on this car. The pink however is scanned from pictures taken in the late 50's early 60's and therefore faded. The color of the car was alwas listed as purple. I ***ume the guys who restored the car did a lot of research to get the color excactly as it was originally.
That car is cool as hell. Those Chevy Talk restorers have major sticks up their ***es. I used to have a '57 Chevy and hang out with some Tri5 club in Orlando, what a ****ing waste of time that was. You shoulda seen how upset they got when I (God forbid) customized my car. One of the major reasons I sold my '57 was the at***ude of the restorer types, I couldn't deal with it. No car's too precious to cut up. Corvette clubs and Tri5 guys need enemas real bad, it might help get the **** out of their noggins.
I dig it. I thought that was a Barris car when I saw it. I wouldn't change anything just because of that, it would be like painting over a Van Gogh or a Dahli painting, just wrong. Most of the customs from that era were overdone, and for me that's half allure. I think that's what makes them great. I see some today that look nice but you can tell an original '60's custom just from the way they're done, just so obnoxious, I dig 'em just for that. And that being said, yes I would own and drive it and leave it just the way it is.
hell yes I'd drive it I love it it has a kind of Communist cold war era look to it like the Russians took a little styling from Packard,Buick,Chevy,Studebaker... and threw some space age interior in it I wouldn't change a thing
The cut down '60 Dodge steering wheel is my favorite part. This is what 50's custom show cars looked like. Not shaved off chrome and smoothies, double the chrome, double the fins, extreme freak-out stuff. It's traditional baroque meets LSD styling. I love it. A car like this would stick out like a ***** in sweatpants a**** a sea of smoothed off belly****on customs.
I think if they wanted a mild custom '57 Lincoln, it would have been a lot easier to leave the quarters on the Lincoln and put the '57 Chevy dash in it. Outside of that, don't have a problem with it - like has already been said, this is what an early 60's era show custom is supposed to look like.
