My buddy picked up his very first old car, a 56 Plymouth more door!

It needs a few small things to be a great driver...we're kinda hoping to turn it into a cool lead sled!

Watson paint job and lowered, thats all i'd do anyways. i love the hell out of those cars, even the four doors. very nice project indeed.

  4. It's cool to see someone else building a '56 Plymouth! There aren't a lot of them around, even fewer customized or rodded.

I am parting out a '55 Belvedere so I may be able to help you out on the parts needed.

gotta figure out how to swap in disks and lose the generator before I seriously look at bagging it.

It's going to be a cool ride!

  12. What is the objection to generators? I like seeing the needle just over to the right with a warm backlight. I know that it's chargiing.

well with only 1/2 a car it would be like falling in love with a gal with only one boob. it can be done, just not many want to try.

Nice to see things worked out for him Steve. By the looks of things "pic-wise" he got a good deal!!
Let me know if he needs a line on parts and such....you know where to find me.

heh, Thanks again Ken. Don sez he owes you a couple of beers for the good tip.

As far as parts, I just need to locate some brake cylinders and shoes.

The park brake is non-op; I need to pull the shoes and get them re-lined at Edmonton Clutch & Grab

I kinda wanted to swap out the generator because he wants to run a few high zoot items like a radio/ air compressors for air ride etc...and the stock generator isn't going to cut it.

  19. Here is what the Australian version looks like.
I just bought this one for my wife. Was orignally a flathead 6 has been updated with a L.A. series 318 and 727, air cond and disk brake diff. I'm about to put power steering in it and front disks. Still needs a little sorting out yet but will be our everyday driver when done.
    Geno.....

The parking brake always sucks on these cars. The brake actually is on the driveshaft, not through the regular brakes. It can be adjusted. Even when working right they usually stop with a clunck.

My parking brake band rusted in half. I think too that the V8 cars had an expanding shoe and drum style parking brake, so those shoes may need to be relined.
