Color change? Shouldn't be that hard.
Strip it down. Build a big tub. Fill tub with paint. Dip body. Color change=done.
I hear Jeff Foxworthy saying, "You might be a redneck" but maybe that's what a half bottle of Jack is saying to me.

Good luck on the metal work. :)

    White? Seriously.....white?
I'm not into white at all.

I might consider a satin sheen in something other than black I suppose...but I'm honestly still seeing this car as satin black!
    It just works for me.

I'll listen to and consider suggestions though...from you or anyone else!

Man...does that first one ever look good with the tall tires and rubber rake. Gives the car a whole different feel compared to the second pic with smaller rears and a level stance.
I think those cars were just meant to have that drag race influence goin' on...

If you're going to go white, then paint it up like a true drag racer: name-on-the-side (Built by Hackerbilt) lettering, stripes, sponsor decals, etc...

    Otherwise, blue would be nice....

Thats a good one Roy.. I been looking at this car for a few years now. was at my shop two years before Bill got it!! and back then I seen it as a X cop car or a moon shine runner or a sleeper. The car is a 4 door so the drag car idea is not fitting in my mind till its turned into a 2 door. But thats just me.. we all beat to our own drum.. lol

Bill?? if I dont get my own way... out it goes!! LOL just kidding buddy..

I can't believe how much better the car looks high compared to how ****py it looked low!
Some cars are just not meant to be slammed I guess.
Shes obviously TOO high now, but will come down as weight is added of course.
MIGHT need a set of blocks out back to sneak her down an additional inch or two for a better rake before all is said and done.

I do know one thing...she isn't gonna fear speed bumps while I own her!!! :)

Does that mean that a conversion is in the works? Because I'd love to see that. What's a few more hours of welding, considering how much you've already done to it up until now?

You not alone with that plan.. Both myself and Bill think that there is too much stuff to do to get into that. Tring to complete the car this year. There alot more to making it a two door then a few hours of welding!! lol

If you guys actually found a set of 2 door doors on the island, I am sure it would be in the long term plans

Bill and Fitz, looking at the pics and wondering how it would look with the back doors welded. If somebody could photoshop it, it might look alright. I bet you have thought about that already. The rest, satin white, 440 or even a 318 with loud pipes. Can't wait to see what you guys have in mind for it, I'm sure there is a plan. :D

Great sleeper material too. How is the 400 - if you need to rebuild it, are you going to put a 440 crank in it?

I've done two of them, if you've got the right parts it's not too bad. There's a link in the super stock Mopar thread of a guy who did one using hardtop doors and adding the pillars from his old sedan doors, looked really good and might be easier to find. Just sayin'.

    Progress is looking real good.

BuiltferComfort...I'm going on FAITH with regards to the 400! Friends Paul and Chris bought the Chrysler for parts for another Chrysler and the rest was going to the crusher.
Fitzee noticed the car in Pauls driveway and asked about it...the guys delivered it to Fitzees shop for free so I could take what i wanted.
Whole bunch of cool people involved there!!!

They had the engine running for a minute or two and it was quiet but the carb was flooding bad so they shut it down. It was laying up for years...seems a son inherited his Dads car but wasn't really in to it...let it sit until it was a mess. Only 70,000 klms on it...AND a new oil pan.
You don't put oil pans on dead engines! I think it will be fine...but I won't know till its in and running.

Squablow...the cars are few and far between around here! I've heard there is one about 10 hours of highway driving away that might be available as a parts car, but I don't have the time or money to blow on a maybe.
Might come back to St Johns the long way after our Moncton trip just to check on it.
Supposed to be some wreckage of an old RCMP 2 dr cop car in central too.
Gonna be a little harder to find...LoL

...and I'm sure fitzee is saying, "Why the hell didn't he do an update!?!?" Hahaha

We got a lot done over the weekend. The darn quarters are a real tangle on these cars due to the extreme returns on the wheelwell and the depth under the rear section/round corner.
It was rusted to the point that EVERYTHING outside the frame rail and behind the wheelwell was replaced.
Fitzee handled that in new steel while I duplicated my left wheel opening on the right using another (stretched) wheel opening from the front of a 67 Plymouth.

The only way for two people to do a major repair like this is if they do different things entirely. I can only imagine the mess if we did a side each and hoped we matched things perfectly!

Nope...fitzee is doing both rear quarter sections...while I do the right wheelwell to match what I already did on the left earlier and start on the door skins.

Heres a few pics of the fun and games...;)

As you can see fitzee did a great job of duplicating the quarter...even more amazing when you consider he had very little to go on as both sides were completely shot to the point of falling apart.
Great work man....gonna keep you on!!! Hahaha

I peeled a few layers off the right side and then cut things apart to get to some solid metal.
Those things look pretty good with a wide open wheelwell! :)

Stretched out the replacement section and then made a new section for the outer wheelhouse. Got everything aligned and welded it together.
I didn't install the outer section as I still need to fix an area at the lower dogleg and also had to bring the outer section home to sandblast the lip inside.
Should have it all on there tomorrow night.

Didn't take a pic of the outer section screwed in place! Oh well...

Fun times...we both really have a blast working together at this stuff!
Thats what its all about!!! :D:D

Had a bit of a bummer when I was at my place blasting tonight.
Tried one of my dogdish caps on my wheels.

    Didn't fit!!!!

Now I gotta look for different caps. Really ****s as I wanted to run the early caps, but being new to Mopar I didn't even realize there was a difference in size!

Yeah Joe...the Atlantic ocean is beautiful...but the beauty comes with a price if you're into cars.
I'm really bummed about the caps.
just didn't realize there was any difference!!!!
I don't know if adapters are available or if the wheels can have clips added or something.
Have to check into it i guess.

Uh oh....I'm thinking I should have waited till AFTER the other side was done before I posted that!!! :D:D

You NEVER leave one of those scoops lying around. They need to be hidden or they end up in the strangest places! :)

After doing a little searching I've seen the standard 9" and then 8 3/4" and even a 10".
Some list 9 1/8" but I'm not so sure of that one.
There are companies that specialize in hubcaps but they seem to only deal with "new" stuff.
    Good luck.
