just picked up a new aluminum Griffin radiator for a 57 T Bird like near free it's going in my 50 Olds which is getting a rebuilt 55 Olds 324 the cubic inches multiplied per square inches of the core works the installation fit is close Pressure Question - the Griffin can take a 16 or 17 pound cap can the 55 Olds 324 take that pressure or is a 12 to 14 pounds a better option Thanks for any input
More is not better. If that rad can't keep it running at less than 190 degrees unpressurized in temperate minnysoda, Something is wrong. Start with an 8 lb cap. I fix and recore a lot of rads. Too much pressure makes them bulge and split, failure rates go up.
Dont worry about the radiator, worry about your heater core, if you have one. Use the lower 7# or so as suggested.
