Does anyone know where to buy " Meguiar's Hot Rims Mag and aluminum polish in the BLACK 8 oz. can. NOT the 8 oz. bottle? the good stuff is PINK not white. Can't find it anywhere.
http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-hot-rims-polish.html http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-Hot-Rims-Aluminum-Polish/sim/B000M3V8F6/2?o=18 Does this stuff really work? I have some Shelby Brand Aluminum slots that have oxidation and I haven't found anything that will cut it?
The comment about cleaning up some old aluminum slots reminded me about cleaning some up years ago. Used a product called "Br***o" available in a can for cleaning br***. Worked great with minimum labour on the aluminum slots I was cleaning. Still my first choice cleaning aluminum. Canuck
I have used a product I believe it was called "Auto-Sol" or something similar. It comes in a squeeze tube and works very well polishing metal of all types. The Br***o products work well as the poster above mentioned.
3M makes this stuff, it reminds me of Simichrome, its pink. http://www.amazon.com/3M-Marine-Aluminum-Restorer-09020/dp/B000RZPNNW
I've checked a lot of those places like Ace - Pep boys etc. What they have now is a black plastic bottle with WHITE polish in it under the same number. Can't figure out why. The PINK stuff is great. Meguiar's says you can get on a back order list. WTF?
I bought mine at a local hardware store. I like it, it smells like big red gum. like said its pink in a black tin container.
I use it on my mag wheels on my midget race car and it is great. Last time I was at Auto Zone I noticed it said "close out" so I bought the last two at the discounted price. Bart
That seems to have been one of their habits over the years. make a great product that guys love and then decide to drop it and sell something else in it's place. I need to clean the wheels on my ot truck so I'll look for some when I'm in town tomorrow. Every Viet Nam era vet will remember Br***o and not always with good memories. We spend a lot of time polishing the br*** for our uniforms with that stuff to get them just right to p*** inspection then.
I got some wadding type polish at an American Racing booth a few years ago that I really like, I don't know if they still sell it or not. Larry T
Could be the GOV. they have even taken the good stuff out of auto dish washing soap, wont get them clean any more. use to make it very thick with water and soak thing for a day or two came out bright and clean. Just as well piss on it now
They did that with their low-gloss Hot Shine Tire Gel a few years back. You can still get the high-gloss version but it isnt quite as good and has to be buffed off after applying or the tires are way to shiny.
i have used gliptone products for alot of my cleaning thier web site is www gliptone .com i can,t recalled the name of the mag cleaner that they have but i used it on a old set of wheels and they came out great
