I'm putting air conditioning on a '37 Chevrolet and I would like it to look like something that might have actually come out in '37. I absolutely hate all the options from all the companies I've seen. So far my idea is something like this: I had in mind that rather than be on top of the dash like the packard I would make my own that hung upside down under the dash and could be opened when you wanted to use the vent and it would have directional vent rather than a fixed one. I'm having trouble finding any pictures of old style vents. All I can find pictures of are custom new crap looking ones. I probably just don't know what to look for, but I definitely don't want the "billet" look. Anyone have any pictures or suggestions of cool vents I might be able to get ideas from or gets some parts to build my own. Thanks, Brandon
something to work with possibly would be the stock vents used by gm for there "astro-ventilation".. i always thought the astro vent balls looked cool. and you can find them repop from places like classic industries for a decent price.
Is the dash in the '37 stock right now? It has been a few years, but as I recall the '37 has a rectangular gauge panel with the speedometer in the center & 4 gauges, two on either side of the speedometer stacked vertically. The clock is in the glovebox door, which is about the same size as the instrument panel & places symmetrically on the other side of the dash. In the center, was the radio & ash tray. Flanked on either side by 3 (maybe 4) vertical chrome strips about a half inch wide. The gauged were accented with vertical painted stripes between the two gauges on each side too I think. There was a vertical stripe theme in that dash. So what is in the car now? B.
