Long time hot rodder Ed Bl***ingame p***ed away in Dec 2010. The family has been going through his 45 year plus collection of pieces and parts and they are now ready to auction the items.

Not sure if the family is keeping his 36 Ford but you may have seen it a show before. Ed owned a few other cars also. That is Ed in the chair.

    [IMG] [IMG]

The auction will be Saturday March 24th in Wynnewood, OK.
    Preview 7:30 am – 9:30 am
    Auction 9:30 am - ??

I have been to Ed’s place a few times and never made it through all the buildings. When Ed moved to Southern Oklahoma from south of Dallas he told me it took something like seven semi trucks full to move all the stuff.

Ed’s good buddy, Mike Stearns, asked me to help spread the word about the auction. Mike has been crucial in helping Ed’s widow sort and identify parts. I will be posting photos as soon as I can make it by. The photos will only show a small amount of the parts. For example Mike said last week he found about 800-1000 hubcaps.

I will confirm more parts and which cars are for sale upon my visit but here is a brief list of items I have seen at his farm.

    32 Ford fenders
    32 Ford grills
    blower
    Hemi engine
    Y-block engine
    V8 60 speed parts
    Frames
    Headlights
    Quick change
    Engine accessories

    Stay tuned…more details to follow.

There is too much stuff to sort, therefore most boxes will be auctioned as ed packed them. Some boxes have some really good stuff, maybe several items and the rest in the box not so great. There does not seem to be any thought given to packing the boxes, just grab stuff and box it with no regard to similarity. If you see something in a box that you want, bid on that box and get everything in the box. There is a lot, and I mean a lot of stainless trim, many fender skirts, tools, toolboxes, buick brake drums, 302 jimmy, several flathead engines, some flathead aluminum, a brookville roadster pickup, and 29 extended cab pickup body, several old ch***is, ch***is parts, large steel shelving, wheels, several cars that have been outside for a while (57 ford fordoor, m38 jeep, 49/50 merc fordoor, big lincoln, 40 ford sedan, etc, etc, etc. Too much to list.

I have been asked a few times about more details on the auction. I have just learned that Freeman Auction will be the company doing the auction. Below is the flyer they put together for the event.

You can download a PDF of the flyer at http://www.freeman-auctions.com/.

I plan on getting photos by the end of this week.

    See you there

Here are some of the photos I got yesterday. These are random things that will be auctioned. I will post more later.

I am also going to contact the auction company to find out more details about the event and will post that here.

    Enjoy!

I spoke with Jim Freeman of Freeman auctions about the plan for Saturday. He said the gates open at 7:30 am for the preview. If you are interested in bidding on items you will receive a bid number. There is no charge to receive a bid number. Bidding will start at 9:30 am and go until the items are all sold.

Since the items were not cataloged he will start in an area and “sell choice” for an item/lot with the high bidder getting the choice to buy one or all the items in that area for that high bid price. For example there might be 50 fender skirts. If your winning high bid is $25 you can have from 1-50 of the skirts at $25 each. This also applies to the boxes on the trailers. High bid gets one or more box at the high bid price per box on a specific trailer.

He is not sure of the order in which he is going to go around from building to building and trailer to trailer.

For payment he will take cash, cashiers check and local personal checks. Or if you have a Letter of Credit from your bank specifying the March 24th Bl***ingame Auction, the amount you are good for and your name, etc that will also be taken.

You are responsible to leave with your items that day but arrangements will be made for larger items that will require special consideration to be moved.

Hope this helps. If you have further questions call Jim Freeman @ 580-622-5080.

BTW I have been asked and I have no ***ociation with the auction company nor am I part of the family. Ed was a friend and I’m trying to help out Sandra and the kids.

Kind of sad to see all that stuff in such disarray. Gives one pause for thought about what happens to "your stuff" when the road trip ends.

please keep in mind about the look of the place - Ed spent his entire life in the Dallas area - think he was well past 65 when - they offered him to much for the acreage he had - and he decided to move the lot up to Wynewood....like alot of us....we seem to like the hunt of an old part or car as much as the drive of one....miss ya Ed...

I'm sure he means "he is taking his junk" with him to the auction. You know...so he can sell it too!

these auction notices just make me think of Steve Martin.

"They say you can't take it with you?, I'm taking it with me. I bought some pretty good stuff. Got me a $300 pair of socks. I got a fur sink. Oh, let's see...Electric dog polisher, that was a good one. Gasoline-powered turtleneck sweater.

And of course I've bought some dumb stuff too."

Steve was talking about his love of money. I converted it to a
    my love of old junk.

Too bad the auction company or the family didn't go through and catalog and separate the items better. From what I have seen, selling "choice" like that usually means a lot less money in the end.

Just because they are auctioning doesn't mean they really need the money. I just helped a guy clean out an attic full of model A parts and he sold that stuff for pennies on the dollar! He just wanted it to go to some one that was gonna use it and not hord it like his old man did. He did make a little cash though but that was to cover all the gift cards he p***ed out for the people that helped clean up his mothers attic.
