after i got the last heap home i had to be honest with myself and admit that with 2 young kids I simply don't have the time to literally rebuild a car - esp one with a severely caved in roof from a fallen tree. so i was able to sell that project - even made 9 whole dollars (but lost 160 on the transport fees lol). i swore i'd leave the garage empty for a bit. well a "bit" was about 2 weeks. stumbled upon this for what i think was a fair price. i drove it. it runs, idles, shifts and stops very well. need to add a fuel tank and some wheel caps for now. then over the summer it will be time to address the paint. the pics make the paint look a bit better than it really is but for what i paid i cant expect perfection. the pass side door is the worst of the car. drivers side is good. floors are solid and the engine sounds fantastic - no knocks, rattles, pings etc. i wanted a 3 spd on the floor but settled for the column version. i got all the trim too - hood ornament, badges and the side moldings - its all in the trunk (along with the trunk handle). all the wheels and brakes have been rebuilt, decent tirs, all lights and wipers work, etc. doors open and shut well, windows go up and down. the interior took me a bit to warm up to but the pics dont really do it justice. everything is hand done and color matched. its a bit pimp for my taste but overall it actually works for the car - and dang the seats are comfy! this week is a fuel cell, a bit of fuel line running and searching for seatbelts so the kids can come with me. pretty excited. i hope i bought better this time! now anyone know where i can find bumpers?
eh i never get the damn names right lol. i think its also a 48. according to the plate numbers its a 48 fleetMASTER 6 person sedan. i dont particulary mind the name designation - i dug the car and the price. but will def try to be more astute in the descriptions - learning as i go! - jason
Nothing wrong with that at all. Get them seatbelts in and take the family out cruising. That's what it's all about.
Yes, that is a '48...the grille has a "T" in the middle of it...'47 does not. Want a pair of '49 Plymouth bumpers...??? Straightened and ready for chrome... R-
Rock on, enjoy the Chevy and get out there & cruise. Family cruise night outings are always a good time!
