Thanks guys. We were ( and still are) lucky to have NE Dragway an hours drive away. Thanks to this site, and this thread, I starting asking a few of my old Drag Racing friends the history-where-a-bouts of these cars. Little did I know that Ross and his father and brother owned the cars. I have known Ross (through our Hot Rod Club) for many years, and never had any idea that he was involved with the "Yellow Corvettes". That is why I said in my earlier post, "it's a small world". Who knows...maybe one day I'll come across someone who wants to swap my 55 Chevy for their 56-60 Corvette. Stranger things have happened.
Not sure i think that vette reappeared on a series or movie maybe jake and the fat man????? I know it was repainted and surfaced again maybe some lil flames in the coves too .... If anyone remembers
HEY 57 T YUR RIGHT THEY HAD A MODEL OF THAT CAR.... IT WAS THE SAME DUDE THAT WAS PLAYED JAKE IN JAKE AND THE FATMAN SHOW
What about Marvin sterling from Wilmington DE? Wasn't his 57 vette "the tomato can" driven in '63? Klaus
you must know something good or you keep your mouth shut about something. because friend, in my family growing up, nobody was giving away 56 -57 vette's to no little brothers. let me guess, you took the blame for filling up the old mans vodka bottle up with water. good looking vette too
Looking for some pictures of this Vette from the early 70's . This is the only one I have. "Vette Express" was on the side and Al's Phillips 66 Service or later Al's Mobil Service. Had 327 bored .60 over, Jackson injection, Snieder roller cam, and later a Holley 780 3 barrel on a high rise. Best time I ran was 9.45 sec. at 122 mph. Ran mostly on weds. night grudge races at OCIR also ran at Lions a few times and Carlsbad a few nights. Was located at Al's Philips 66 Service on Balboa Penisula near the ferry to Balboa Island in Newport beach Cal. and later in Costa Mesa at Al' Mobil Service. Time frame early 1970's.
I agree this car is perfect. Would like to know a few particulars on the car. Looks like Grandpa runs it-Jim
Brilliant........poster car for this thread as far as a "modern build"......everything about it is right, coordinated and balanced. Crazy grandpa could you post more pics of your coolest gasser? A big thumbs up.
Rocky the 59 looks great. With the cage and the rear wheels it looks like it may not be quite NCRS material. Details would be appreciated-Jim
Hi Guys, A couple more pics of my 57 vette. I will be racing at Thompson Raceway for the June 1st and 2nd gasser event. Crazy Grandpa
