I was wanting to know if there are any Junkyards left in Wisconsin that have some old tin left in them? I have found one or two just seeing if anyone else knows any and would like to share. Thanks
one near Lydon Station on the interstate 39 ....Be sure to mention his wrecker....its the biggest around.....then he will let you in the yard....cars from the 40's and up....BigBad John
That one in lydon I thought was camp douglas been in there spent a day there ya just got to be cool with the guy ......dont be a ****, leave your at***ude at the door if he says no at first dont mean you wont get in
We should arrange a weekend for a bunch of Hamber's to meet at one of the junkyards. Little meet and pick.
yup, it is Camp Douglas. His wrecker is the "golden hook". name is Chase. another is just North of Janesville. Right along Hwy 59 between Milton and Newville. Hank Seward it is tough to even get in, but the one along Hwy 20 just West of East Troy is interesting. lots of Mopars hidden away near Waterloo. Only open on Saturdays. Golden Sands near Boscobel (SW part of State) has stuff but is reluctant seller. most of my needs are served by Jack's. Ask for Doug and tell him Bob from Top Notch sent you. Jack was with us tonight at the cruise night in Jefferson.
there is one on county line road between sheboygan and manitowac that i go to a couple of times a year
If anyone wants to get a junkyard crawl going to Jacks I'm up for it, I've never been there but I've heard it's good.
Sorry about the error......junkyard is at Camp Douglas....When you get old...the mind is the first to....Thanks fellow HAMBers for setting the record right.....Big Bad John
Chase is a weird character. Doesn't seem to want to sell anything. When you ask how much he'll ask what'll you offer. When you give him an offer he'll spit out, "Worth more than that for s****, they don't make 'em any more." I ended up buying some stuff from him but had to screw around with him way too long. The East Troy junkyard is so overgrown and cars are so close together it takes an hour to get to anything and by the time you find what you need, if you can, it's pretty well picked over, and get back to the office it's closing time. They're only open on Saturday from like 8 to noon. I found this place 30 years ago and at that time there was a lot less overgrowth and a different owner that was easy to deal with, could get some really good deals. There's a couple of older yards near Rio, along Hwy 60. One is I think is called All Auto Acres, right on the highway and another off to the south. I've never been to either but AAA used to older stuff but quite some time ago they built a big fence around the place so you can't see what they have now. The other place is about a mile south but you can see it from 60 and looks like they have a lot of rusty iron. There's also an old time yard just north of Marksan, on Hwy 73. I also haven't been there but have driven past a few times and had some old iron from the late '60s and '70s sitting around out front. Unfortunately, there were a lot more yards closer to me 30 years ago that aren't anymore.
Zebs auto wrecking between Marion and Tigerton on us hy 45 in north central Wi has a lot of old iron call them at 715-754-5885 for mid 30s and up parts ................ Pranky brothers outside Bowler (Shawano county) has some old **** from time to time...low prices don't call.... just show up and look around......................
all the above yards are for the picking, problem is, you're dealing with some strange people. a phone call won't do if you're lookin for something specific, they'll tell you they have what you want, but they have to check-repeated phone calls back will get you nowhere.
