Oh, and I like the looks of this project. Kudos to you "the friends dad" for encouraging him to get his hands dirty!

The project kind of dissipated. The engine is still sitting on the stand and I ended up buying that Chevy behind it. One day, I'll take it apart completely and show the HAMB its beautiful innards!

I am trying to put some pics of a 190 .note the 6 oil hole piston . this is what
mercury did to help cool the pistons and more lube to the bore wall.
thay also had some diferent wrist pins. If the engine is built with the good
parts thay will run very good for years. there are alot of after market parts for this engine.such as electronic ignition kits, gaskets, alum head
    pitons,build your own alt/charging system . even a/c . there is a pully
    that mercruiser makes a stock 3 v pully for a 350 / 454 that will bolt
to the front ballencer. :) Also see the weep hole in the third pic?
some early models did not have this. it was for water pump cam shaft seal failer.
instead of coolent getting into the oil . it would vent out of this hole. this worked o.k.
as long as you checked out the engine, and knew what to look for.speed sleeve time.

Boat was junk I replaced countless parts just to run it. I found that if you run it ; it will never let you down. Large old boats still use them 2 or more. I would keep it it but the boat it'nt in the best of shape for the power. If you what the engine just to race it; I'd put my money on this one. I know the power and tork. Hey you want it? Test it in the boat. Woohahhh!!! NC.

Is that a Boss head? Nuts! Chevy bellhousing (tapping temple), I think an early Nova or Falcon/Comet only weigh in around 2600#s with a 4 banger. Hmmm.
