    Cougardan,
Now thats some s***ches. Glad to hear all is well.
    Keep your head up!
I spent all day today running around in the hot sun in my roadster.
    Life is good.

Went to a show cool show on Saturday. Around 500-600 cars in Loudonville.
A old fellow in his 70's came up to me about my 37 coupe and offer to trade a full fendered 32 steel 5 window coupe for my 37. This one is solid and completed twenty years ago and never driven. He says alittle work and she would be road worthy. He said a 37 coupe was his first car and he has always wanted one.
    ****!!!!
Now what do i do?. I finally get mine reliable and running like a watch and this happens. i was hoping to sell my Brookville roadster and buy something like this.
Not my 37! I will have pics this Thursday. What do you guys think about this?
    I'm just totally confused.:D

Spent most of the weekend sanding, cleaning, priming and painting, more sanding and painting (my hands are sore!) the engine bay and cowl of my f100. Also re-plumbed my air system and finally added a drier.

Clark, Its funny you said about the gas gage, I was sitting here doing the original post and went and grabbed the other gage to remove the Volt as I did not like the look of it there in the middle. The volt gage is going on somewhere, After the charging issues I had with the wagon early on, the Volt gage saved my *** a few times in the late night and gave me time to find a lighted spot to work... I will have to mount it somewhere less noticeable.

Glad everything went all right. Chicks dig scars.....
I go the bucket sanded down and finished bodywork. Hopefully The Beater will get real paint soon. Mmmmmmm....shiny paint.

  8. Glad your on the road to recovery cougardan, I'm sure you'll feel better than you have for a long time.

I went to Des Moines, to Goodguys and had a great time, met some great people, drank some great beer (and some not so good), ate some good food (that includes some of Denise's chocolate chip cookies, thanks Denise).

Anybody got a water truck for sale?? I either gotta fix the Ford or change my recovery vehicle.

I got quite a bit done. I rebuilt the HL buckets for the sedan with all new pieces. I got the doors all lined up and adjusted. This took all day as the 76 year old bolts did not want to come out of the hinge blocks. Then I recut the windshield frame and remounted the hinge to get a better fit. It was pretty productive just slow. It was allot of repe***ive fitting and adjusting to get everything right.

Got the engine pulled out of the 58 merc and sold the body, got the Caribee mocked up in the garage, fixed the headlights and brakelights in the truck and then promptly had the thermostat take a **** (haven't fixed it yet) and helped my neighbor fire upa 600 inch aluminum monster 1969 Boss 429 with open headers. mmmmm......it was pretty. Also finally plumbed the bar in the garage so that I can stand to work out there more. Still have to pee outside but I do have a wetbar now. Great combination for power tools!

Hey Harrison--That is one cool looking instrument cluster. I really like that. What is that out of, if I could show my ignorance?

the Stude is lookin great. that scoop is HUGE!! it's got to be such a thrill to build and race a car like that. the trial and error, the engineering. it's got to be great when it all comes together and things work out. and then your always trying to figure out ways to make it that much better. thats got to be very rewarding when things go right. good luck this year.

one question. how much is that car chopped?? its a bit more in the front than in the rear, is'nt it? i think a street car would look great with that roof height.

again. good luck at B-ville. i'll make it out there... someday.

Spent an unbelievable amount of time rearranging my garage so I could get the '46 Chevy pu back into the garage so I could do some work on it.
I have inherited some machine tools from my deceased father-in-law and the garage was reaching critical m***.
I got the '46 back in and sanded and shot some rattle can prinmer and paint on it to seal it from the elements.
Then couldn't get to sleep because I was building the rest of it in my mind...

I say, do the trade. :) The 32 is worth more in my opinion. I saw a steel 32 (real not repop) in pieces w/ all the parts to build go for $40k.....a 32 3-window, rolling shell for $50k.

You live once right...you can always trade "down" for another 37 right?

Thanks for the compliment. The instrument cluster is just a plain old '40 Ford Standard cluster.

I managed to pop an air bag on my truck and throw sparks down the freeway for a good 1/4 mile. :( The guy tailgating me backed off real quick. Must have looked real cool from behind. :)

Thats how I'm looking at this... The 32 is unchopped and full fendered. The front end was changed over to a lowered straight axle with discs along with a 9'' and juice brakes. The interior is perfect and done in leather. The only drawback in my eyes it is setup for a 305 which goes with it. So I will be starting all over with a flatty, radiator and ****** setup. Yes, you only live once. I hope this guy will allow pictures. I guess he has a ****load of parts for various type cars.

When you p***ed me that morning I was thinking, Mac likes to ride low even on the freeway. Too bad I missed the spark show.

I broke the bracket on my bag over spring setup and turned around to head back home.

I ended up welding a clamp type bracket on the end of the standard air over spring bracket. Reason being if the bracket breaks again at the weak spot (see arrow in pic below), the clamp at the other end will stop the bracket from walking down the spring (bag bent at an angle toward the rear of the car).
Or even worse, which was what I was worried about, that's sliding off the spring and getting jammed in between the tire and spring.

Spent most of the weekend bent over the blasting cabinet cleaning parts...

just about wore out my compressor so I hooked up an auxillery compresser and just about wore that one out too...

I gotta get a pressure blaster.

After I got tired of that I went after the p***anger quarter on the roadster...

It was real pitted and had a lot of rot that had ben ****pily repaired so I took it off, salvaged the patch pannels and drip channel and cleaned them up in the cabinet. The SOB of it was as soon as I was ready to tack the stuff on the good pannel, the self darkening lens on my welding helmet fell out and shattered on the floor...

    Anybody ever had that happen?

Guess it was time to stop.

    Cougardan...

When you got back from the hospital, did you dive right into some good old fashioned 4th O' Jooliye BBQ? I heard nothing helps 4 bip*** recovery like a rack of ribs!... :)

Seriously though, that picture gave me chest pains...

    Glad you're OK.

I hope your doc wasn't just trying to get together some "4th of July in VEGAS BABY!!!" money. :)

    Get well soon.

I got the engine run-in stand welded together & painted & the radiator, elec. fan, & guage panel/guages mounted & wired. Was able to find exhaust manifolds for the LT1 at the swap meet, but couldn't find a cheap enough bellhousing to use on the stand (can't afford much of anything). Can't wait to try it out but I need bellhousings, flywheels, & starters for both SBC's & SBM's.
Sure wish I'd bought the other headers for a SBC from the same guy that I bought the LT1 manifolds from. I think he said they were for an S-10; would probably have worked well on the stand....

I finally got my Coronet wagon back on the road. Dropped a new used engine in it ( I didn't have the funds to build a new one but eventually). Had it running a few days ago and came out the next morning and it wouldn't even make a click when turning the key. I thought the new battery was totally drained but it turned out to be a bad grounding wire. I had been driving my wife's Dart ... I didn't realize how closterphobic her car made me feel until I started driving the wagon again.

Ate to much, slept to much, hung out with 30roadster and got a crash co**** on TIG welding, sprayed the firewall on my brothers truck white with a little brilliant blue pearl, and blew a few things up.

Sounds like you got off easy. You were lucky it could have been worse. I finally decided to break down and buy new bag mounts rather than the home made ones that I got now. Then I will get some more lift out of them. Believe it or not that is about max hight I was cruzin at. At max hight (with my homemade brackets) my running boards are 3" from the ground and s****e all the time. Sunday wasn't a good day for air suspension. :)
