I agree with Mother Trucker---too many swap meets with the same stuff- I would rather go to Pomona than Pomona come here---besides, I love fog!!!!!!!!!! My vote for the best swap meet----"Just Sell It" @ GCC---Monthly cool Swap Meet
I like to spend my time at some of the "secret" swapmeets where everyone selling there has good ol' original used parts... No T-shirts, hot wheels, kettle corn, & "snake oil" polishing vendors, or mega chrome sellers with 53 foot trailers at these meets. You are hard pressed to find anyone selling new parts at these meets.... just ******** original parts & a big BBQ for concessions {BYOB}. Can't give away the secret location of these down home meets as everyone will then flock to them & they will be turned into another cheesy marketing circus like the rest of them. I can tell you that these "secret location" meets are not in Calif. or Arizona.
You're kidding, right? I mean, if your not, and the swap is so *****in' 'cause, you know, it's small, don't you just end up buying your own schit eventually?
I still like to run up to Phoenix a few times a year to check out a some of the meets but.... Despite popular belief... Phoenix is not the center of the swapmeet universe.
I actually went to this swap and was surprised. I was in town for the BOEING open house (Apache plant - brother works there). So I get to the swap at 5:45 AM Saturday morning and was blown away by how many pre 1940 Ford parts I found. Nobody was touching this stuff, it was all about SBC for most people. The only bummer was, they had signs that said "Parts Pick Up" lane, but they wouldn't let me go in to pick up my parts (a few top loader transmissions, etc) so it ****ed carrying that stuff back out. I ending up bringing a truckload back to So Cal. I might go back in November.
I sold a bunch of stuff again. Sunday was lighter like always but I sold about the same $ amount eash day. Car attendance was better on Sunday. Don't think the guy putting it on is from CA. I think they will run your parts out on a golf cart if you ask.
Can't believe any body would complain about this deal! No, Phoenix isn't the swap meet capitol of the world. I wouldn't want it to be. But I saw more stuff out at this deal that I haven't owned at some point in the last thrity years than I have ever, at any other AZ swap. We have always had a small, brackish gene pool of swapers around Phoenix, and every time I go to a swap I see stuff that I hauled out to the old Phoenix collage swap twenty years ago for sale again. It was very nice to see new blood as it were coming in!
