One of the best Poker Runs I was ever on started in Long Beach, to Corona then over the Ortega Hiway, down into San Juan Capistrano, then back up Coast Highway to Long Beach. That was in the summer of 1959 and I drove it in my '32 3 window. No freeways back then and the run started about sundown. They promoted it as a "Scenic Poker Run". The highway was so dark you couldn't see shit, but damn it was fun .

I'm going to be vacationing near there in the middle of May. If the stars are in alignment, we could possibly link up at the restaurant. I'd be the dude in the rental unit. I'm getting a lot of history from this.

It's been like 20 years or more since I've been up there. Are you refering to the Look Out?. As I remember there wasn't much parking there. Just thinking is all. I would hate to hear you had to keep movin on.

Never mind, just went back and clicked on the link provided. There's more room that I remember. I just remember being up there in my 53 Chevy on the left of the place and there was only room for me and 2 other car's. Oh well. That does look like fun.

It's a great twisty road, good views. Watch out for the motorcycles, I would like to drive it again.

Not in the worse heat of summer, please. Big line of old cars, going up and down hills, is hard enough to make happen. Add hot weather and you can bake the fun out of it. Just an opinion.

It doesn't get hot on the coast side of Ortega, so as long as we don't go down into Lake Smellsomemore, it shouldn't be a problem :D
