I was not impressed, I did not even knew it existed. I was looking around on netflix for something to watch and came across it, I was excited to find it. It had very little footage with the classic cars it seemed to be more of a war movie and protesting. I only cared for the the scenes with Milner in them .Anyone else seen it?

That's why you never knew it existed. A real polished turd of a movie.

Now you know why it was 'lost' in the shuffle. The original has been played-out. But, there are a lot of die hards here in HAMB town that keep it current.

yes I gave it a chance the other day. I think they were going for more of the music and hippie/war movement. Sad I know. Wish he could have made a nice sequel to the first with more rides. ohh well...

I hate to break this to you folks but movies are not usually made to make one aspect of the population happy. Even the original American Graffiti movie wasn't entirely focused on the cars.

Personally I liked AG II. The hippie stuff was a bit goofy but entertaining. The car stuff was done well and a LOT more realistic than some of our other favorites like Hot Rod (1979) or even Hollywood Knights

Don't crucify it for what it isn't.

The soundtrack was OK, but it was definitely a dark comedy! Poor Toad!

I liked it. It's got cars and drag racing. What's not to like?

AG is one of my favorite movies. I have a DVD copy of More AG and I first watched More AG was a looooong time ago and I was really disappointed with it. The thing I hated was the jumping from year to year. I think I had to watch it 3 times before it started making any sense. Worst thing was that even after I understood the jumping around it still wasn't a good movie.

AG II was not the movie AG was, that's for sure. Some Ok racing scenes but that was about it. We watched AG last night and it still is cool after probably seeing it 100 times over the years. Love the scenes with Toad trying to score some liquor........all of us can remember trying that ourselves. :D

We kept running the film back and forth trying to determine where those sparks were coming from when Falfa got on it at the light. Looks like it comes from the drivers side tire area, but not sure what it was.

The sparks from Falfa's tire were likely caused by small rocks or debris stuck in the tread. As the tire spun during the launch the rocks sparked and were shot out.

As far as AG being a 'car' movie, it really isn't. It is a movie about a group of kids getting ready to start a new chapter of their lives. Steve and Kurt are supposed to go to college, Toad is looking for love, Milner isn't ready to move on and grow up, etc...
However, being based in 1962 cars are a tremendous part of the kids lives. But don't forget about the Hop, Toads escapades getting houch, getting lucky, having his friends car stolen and then beat up. Steves struggle within about leaving his girl to go to school, and Kurt trying to get a grip on his future.
Sooo much more than a car movie if you can grasp it.
More AG is a continuation of the lives these people were supposed to be living. Ask some oldtimers what happened to all their buddies they grew up with. I bet the story sounds alot like more AG than you might think. And those times were just as confusing as trying follow the movie. Life, Death, and war. Yup, that was the 60s.

AG II was made to make $$$.
Considering it's age now ... it was not that bad a movie when it was released ( over 30 years ago ). It is RARE the the sequel comes anywhere close to the original. The only movie sequel that comes close in my mind is the Godfather II.

The original AG was not that good of a movie. It's just that it tapped into a scene that had never been explored on film before. It is a time capsule, and I think that's why we love it.

I guess a lot of how you take Grafitti II has to do with how old you are and if you can really relate to it,I graduated from High School in '63 and in my Junior and Senior year I was in Vocational auto shop learning how to turn wrenches and pound out fenders,we cruised the drive-ins chased the gals and went to sock hops.It came to a quick end on April 1st,1964 I was wearing Army green, and two things changed America the British invasion of the music we listened to and the start of the Viet Nam war. They say "you can't go home again" and it's true, buddies we hung out with were gone and some came home changed forever and the America we knew in '62 was much different when I got out of service in '67.Graffiti II brought some of that home to me,one of the things that makes me enjoy the HAMB is it takes a lot of us old farts back to a similar time like in '62 through these old traditional cars we love.

AGII is a movie that you need to see a couple of time just to be able to keep up. AG involves the innocents of youth and AGII is the real world slapping them in the face during four separate years. If you expected more cruising from the first show, ya it's disappointing but it's a different show.

Yeah, I agree. It was the split screen scenes that ruined AG 2 for me.
