My lincoln did the same thing after about a year. fried circut board. Still under warrenty, got if fixed in about a week. The new ones should be updated also with 'beefier" chips/diodes/whatever. Since then 4 years of nearly constant use, without a hiccup Sparky Hey You going to the Decatur show??
aren't they millers with hobart decals? everything should interchange and be of the same quality...or, i could be wrong... nic
I've had a 110 for about 6 years with no problems. However, I think their quality has gone down quite a bit in the last few years. Your saying it feeds, but just feeds fast, correct?
My Handler 135 has been going strong for 3 years. Miller bought them out some time ago. Mine says Miller on the gun. Josh
I have three Hobart welders- a 1979 model BetaMig 200 -a 1992 110model 125 and a 110X135 I will say this- they were better back when they were HOBARTS....Id rather have one of my older machines than their current offerings........ Since Miller has aquired the 110 volt line they have progressively declined in quality -both the welding machines and their guns.........
Sounds like the motor pulled too many amps with the 10lb spool at top speed. Have you checked your source voltage? How long is the cord you're running and what guage? Also check that all your connections are good, terminals, no partially broken wires in the cord etc. I have two of the new miller/hobarts, no problems yet. Pretty decent welder for the money IMO.
I had 3 Millers in the ahop over the years with no problems. Thought I'd try a Hobart as a change of pace. It's a 220v 252 machine that I've run for about 5-6 years. Not a moments trouble in that time so I can't relate to your problem. Hope you get it running again, there's nothing like a piece of equipment that you rely on being down. Frank
I've got Hobart's 250 Ironman and LOVE it. This was after 7 years of a Lincoln 100, which I also loved, but was limiting. I've had no probs with the Hobart at all.
i've had my hobart handler 140 for about five months now and not a bit of trouble that wasnt operator malfunction related.
Did ya get the welder issue resolved? Mine will occ***ionally fail to feed (popped breaker), but I've never had it feed too fast. Good luck with it, hard to function without a welder.
for even more miller/hobart tech support go to http://www.hobartwelders.com/mboard/ it has factory tech guys posting on it. later jim
