Okay, as some of ya know, I had a wee bit of a flood last June. So a couple weeks ago I finally got my 59 out of the 5 ft of sand. Hoping to save her, but it is hosed! Frames bent clear to the ground, rust on everything, and huge dents all over from trees washing around it. So, it's going away but, I do want to save the dash! Any tips on getting it out? Keep in mind there 2 ft of mud in the frt seat, so it might be tricky to get to the underside. KEEP IN MIND, PICS DO NOT DO THE DAMAGE JUSTICE FOR YA START YELLING ABOUT S****PING IT. there's not one thing on this that isn't broke , bent or rusted .... Thanks for any tips y'all Todd
knock the windshield out and use a sawzall around the lip under the windshield frame. You should be able to pull it far enough out to cut the bracing after that.
Man, what a shame. I do feel your pain. I cut the dash out of my 60 wagon last year, owned it since high school 1973. It was time to part it and put it to rest. Best way to get the dash is through the windshield area. Start with all the inner and outer moldings, take out the gl***, steering column bolts, couple bolts by the air vent controls, and pedal brackets ( good stuff to sell) then you'll see the areas where it's connected -- sawzall with a long blade will get it out pretty quickly. Best of Luck !!!
SO, no cutting the steering colum then? Ps, I got drunk ( had to) and already took care of the gl*** with a bobcat! Even poked a few holes in the damn thing, so I wouldn't change my mind! Sux, cause I drove the ****er right up to where it was sitting. Was gonna b a gift to a club brother. Fk floods! Pc the black guy on here (ray) already got the frt loose while I was typing the thread, and the 4 bolts on the side. Closer!!!!!
Haha, that's a drag man. Good luck though, and you know what they say about one door closing and another opening... <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
that is painful to see. i used a plazma to cut mine out for a project, but the good ole sawzall works well too. take the gl*** out and save you sanity though. good luck!
