Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by chainsaw, Mar 29, 2012.

  1. Thanks to all the advice I got on here I finaly got it done. Alot of dust, some orange peel and a few runs, but I think it turned out ok for my first time painting.

Looks great! Love that color too!

  6. looks great.
in the future, news print is dusty, so use paper designed for painting and you should have painted the roof first, plastic over fresh paint is not recommended [traps solvents].
again great job and i love the color.

YAHOOOOOOO, that is one Sky Blue and White pickup!
And the best part is? You didn't pay someone else several 1000$ to do it for you.
    Great work, congratulations.

Looks great and just remember, crusin' down the street at 30 mph or running down the highway at 65 mph nobody will be able to see a little dust, a run or two, or a little orange peel.

Looks like you did well, for a first timer...and even the veterans get dust, runs, and orange peel in the paint, especially if they don't paint in a booth...that is what fine sand paper and buffing compound is for!
    Love the color!

Congratulations, looks great in the photos! Hopefully most of the dust and orange peel will come out with a little water sanding.

  19. Thanks guys , the blue floor was just an added bonus . Guess I get to try garage floor coating systems next. Its just single stage omni mtx, if I would have read the reviews before I bought it I would have got something better. Its supposed to be stock Chevy lite blue for 63 but I think they mixed it a tad darker.

You gotta feel good about the paint job...it looks great. The next one will be easier and better.
    Great job!!

  25. Single stage sticks to everything. My jack and jack stands still have red on them as well as a lot if my tools from a paint job done in 1986. That single stage lasts a long time. Truck looks good.

It looks good. Wet sanding and a buffer will cure a lot of sins.

Orange peal and dust who cares you will be the only one who knows where they are at. Looks good for a first time paint job. Its going to look awsome once you get it all back together.
