I will never know why they use that low resistance coil with those , its just two hard on controllers.......

  2. Well I'm still using the low ohm coil now with the points, I'm wondering if that is its issue with the higher RPM breaking up, I have a standard ignition #803 coil that I could try but I have no idea what the ohm rating is on it . I also found a tach drive unilight dist. in some of my parts, I might try it as well.

Hey Bubba, I got your purple coil when you modified my hemi distributor with the Ignitor II

I was planning on another coil, but now I'm wondering if I should use that crazy purple one instead :D

  6. Well I put the unilight that I found in the car as well as a different coil, and the car runs great, I don't think it has ever started easier, or had so much power, normally it would spinning a little in second (4 speed manual), but now it blows the tires away in third too. Very happy with the results!

    Very good ending !!!

  8. I attempted to take the car out today, but it was near impossible to start, so I checked the spark coming from the coil and it was very Orange, not blue as what you would normally see, so I checked the ballast resistor, and I was only getting about 6 volts to the coil, I think i need at least 8? In any case I picked up the Vertex mag, dropped it in and it works great, it is a 6deg advance, the only issue is the terminal that should be switched to ground when you want to kill it does not seem to work, it b*** a small pigtail that says it must be connected in line, and I think it says something about being a suppressor?

    Any thoughts?

Make sure you use a switch rated for at least 20 amps for that kill switch.

  10. Got the Mag dialed in, the little pigtail must have had a diode in it and it was bad, car starts and idles way better, ordered the kill switch that vertex makes. Thanks Tim, the mag did the trick!
