Would something be bad allowing fluid to drain from the dual couplings back down into the pan? If this thing sits for more than a few days, I have a leak from the speedo gear adapter, the shift linkage and I believe the pan as well. I have replaced the seal in the speedo adapter and the pan gasket. It is better but not completely gone. I spent alot of time last night searching here and the web for this issue. I picked up a few bits of info, but does someone have any tricks for dealing with this. I cannot stand leaks and would really like to get this resolved.

    Thanks for any help.

Pretty normal for the converter to drain back over filling the pan which equals a leak most of the time. Drive it daily ! Shift linkage into the side of the trans is another leak point.

Was told a worn Stator Bushing caused same problem in my TH350. 3 days max sitting then leaks from every pore. Checked fluid level cold after 2 days and it was waaaay over full.

Jetaways have no stator, they are fluid couplings, not torque converters.

It may be possible that there is a check valve in the coupling that is not doing it's job and allowing the coupling to drain back into the pan. Look at the Jetaway manual to see if it does indeed have a check valve.

Thanks for the replies. I would very much like it to be a daily driver, but the reality is that probably won't happen. I am goin to keep working on this and will update as it happens.

    Thanks,

If you have an old transmission shop in the area, you could stop in and ask for their advice. When I had a leak problem with my '64 Olds slim jim, I took it to a shop (out of the car) and had them reseal it, dry as a bone after that.

Just marking its spot, probably learned that hanging out with an old Harley. ~sololobo~

Yeah.... "Marking it's spot" is an understatement!!! I laughed out loud at that. If in the end that's what I have to live with, so be it. I spent many years looking for this car and will do what I can.

    Thanks,

My Olds leaked like a sieve, I was forbidden to park it here and there and my dirt driveway should have been a super fund clean up site.

I'd wait for a deal on Dexron and buy it by the case or in gallon cans. In the summer I'd be good for a quart a day and often have a trail following me around if I was driving slow.
