Hello, completely new at building old cars and I found a 1949 Mercury with no engine. I have found a 1950 Ford 239 flathead V8 and I would like to know if anyone can tell me what to expect if I put the Ford engine in the Mercury car.
    Thanks

Welcome to the hamb. My '49 Merc had a ford flathead in it when I bought it so it can be done. Bolts right up from what I can see.

I think the merc has different water pump legs compared to the car but I may be wrong. I got a truck flathead to put in my 51 and all I had to do was get merc water pumps.

Lots of cool possibilities with a 49 Merc. Ford engine sounds OK but in my opinion you can put a small block Chevy in just about anything except a good Mopar. Have fun and Welcome.

Welcome to the H.A.M.B. It fits right in with the right pumps. You just have a few less cubic inches and horsepower.
