I am running an HEI after market in my 327. Starting to develop a hesitation when i jump on it. the hes***ation isn't immediate but seems to start and then hesitate. I have checked vac*** hose and connections. seems like advance is late kicking in? Carb is Edelbrock 1406. suggestions as to what else to check? as usual thanx for your input. larry

Well you may need to check it with a timing light withba digital advance to see when its coming in. It could need a lighter spring kit. Also I've had trouble with the 1406 carbs and have had to purchase a metering rod/ tune up kit for them and play with them also. Good luck hope this helps

    I know older post.

Check the leads on the pickup coil, those are known to break internally due to the vacuum advance movement. The insulation will look good but the copper strands are broken. Give a lite tug on them.

Oh does that bring back memories of the good old days:(

Most of the aftermarket HEI's are Chinese JUNK. I'd run an old GM unit before wasting money on them.
