Two buddy's just recently bought four (Four!) 1931 Model A Coupes from the estate of a collector here in Maryland. It was one of those "too good to be true" type of deals. All the cars were in great shape (some dents, a little rust, and mouse eaten interiors) and with a little coaxing they were drivable. So we set up a gravel track and raced 'em! We were inspired by our friends at the Jalopy Showdown. Here's the link to the video http://youtu.be/7-4hkDO_eEI
That is cool as hell!!!...thanks for sharing, Only way it could have been better is if I were driving one of them....
Wow!! You can hear the rocks hitting the insides of the fenders.....sweet!!!!! Thanks! The put a nice big smile on my face for the rest of the day.
Thanks for all the positive comments. I have to admitt it was one of the best days I have ever had. We timed all four cars and they were pretty much evenly matched (go figure!). All of the cars are gonna remain pretty much intact. The brown one is getting a '32 heavy duty axel and a A-V8 transplant. The black one is gonna stay a banger but beefed up with period correct speed parts. Old Yeller is gonna get driven as is for now, with maybe a few period mods for drivability. And Bluford? Well, she might be changing hands as we speak. It kills me to see her leave the family, but whatcha gonna do? Maybe on the next deal/find, I can pony up and buy my way into the fun. At least I got to make a few laps! Seriously, I still smile thinking about how much fun this day was!
It was a lot of fun, I laugh every time I watch the video. There's been talk of a re-match.....If it happens, we'll be sure to post it here!
