I posted a few days ago about a hemi I rescued from being turned into a coffee table (huh?!?), and while I couldn't really afford it, nor have I got anything to PUT it in, I had to have it. From my research, I believe it to be a '58, and it still has the manual transmission attached. Here are some pics. Please note, it had been sitting on the shelf for a LOOOOOOOONG time before I came along. Enjoy!
The part number on the intake manifold you posted corresponds to 1951-1953 car, and 1954 C63-1 (New Yorker).
Ah, thank you for that. I just posted a mystery engine in another thread, which turned out to be a poly head. Guess I'll be going back for that, too! And me without a MOPAR... Lol.
The transmission isn't a regular manual transmission, it is a partially manual, partially automatic transmission, that goofy "tank" with the radiator hose connection on it ahead of the p***enger side head is the transmission cooler. Looks like a 51-53 from the pics, as someone else said, the stamped # on the block surface ahead of the valley pan cover will ID it correctly, also a side view with the bellhousing area included will help narrow it down.
Hey, if anyone out there in HAMB-world is looking for a hemi with a trans, shoot me a PM. While I knew I had to keep it from being gutted and turned into a coffee table, I also knew I didn't personally have a use for it, and I spent waaaaaaaaay more than I had in the budget to spend on car parts. I'm sure many of you have been in a similar situation... you know you shouldn't but if you don't the alternative is worse, right? I'm not saying I'm in any rush to get rid of it, but I bought it with the intent of getting it into a vehicle and on the road where it belongs. I've already got TWO projects going on, and a MOPAR third just isn't gonna happen at this point in time.
