Were bucket seats an option in the 61 Ford Starliner? I have searched and searched for a picture of one with original bucket seats but so far have not found any.

They became available in 62 so any ones you find are not stock... Alloway built a couple using 64 buckets and console... they look good...

Thank you so much for the info. I'm building a model of Fred Lorenzens 61 Ford and wanted to know what the bucket seat looked like, but apparently they used a bench seat with the right side seat back removed. I have no good pictures of the interior of his race car either.

I found a picture of the car in question that shows just the very top of the drivers seat. It is rounded at the top so I know it is not a bench seat. Im starting to think they used the bucket seat out of a 1959 Thunderbird that they campaigned in 1959. The 1959 Thunderbird bucket is rounded at the top. They probably used this same seat in Joe Weatherly's 1960 Ford that he drove for Holman and Moody in 1960. Just speculation on my part.

You might check with Lafayette Ford in Fayetteville NC which was Lorenzen's sponsor in those days.

Actually the 61 Ford had "Courtesy Ford" in Charlotte as the sponsor. It was the first car Fred drove for Holman and Moody. It was also the car that he got his first big win in. He beat Curtis Turner at the Rebel 300 convertible race in 1961.
