    All this talk about slipper clutches reminded me that I either heard or read that Garlits left leg was a bit shorter because he would slip the clutch a bit with the pedal (not from the 2-speed explosion!!). Made sense to me.

    I got the LP too, you can see it on the right hand side of the wall just under the Hollywood Knights Lp (*** on the cover).

    I have a small collection of racing sounds albums. If you can find an actual record store, they usually have a sound effects or similar type section.

    Back to the question of manually shifted trans., many earlier G***ers and FED's started out in 2nd gear, then shifted to high, using the great.......Cad/LaSalle/.
    (I have a very worn 1959 rendition of "Hot Rods and Dragsters in Hi-Fi" LP.........and the T-Shirt).
