The 250 I swapped into my '54 F100 on a S10 chassis. Love how simple it is, and has a decent amount of power.

However, I'm worried that I may have the front of the engine tilted too high. I don't have a side shot, but this is the best I've got.

That is a interesting build. As for the tilt It doesn't look to bad from that photo. But a side photo would be better.

Doesn't Offenhauser still produce intake manifolds for those?

  4. Yes ... I have one on my '53 Ford! The 215 can share parts with the 223 ...

Good luck finding split headers tho ... last set sold for just shy of a grand on eBay but I had a local guy with a TIG do a 4/2 split for me.

Local GM product here in Australia, the mighty grey motor produced between 1948 / 1963. Great every day runners, there are plenty of diehards out there like me who still rebuild, tune and abuse these great old motors.

Setup properly they'll give good reliable service;)

A little different approach. '69 Pontiac 250 OHC-6. Clifford intake and headers, Edelbrock 500cfm carb, milled head. 2004R trans. Body is supposed to be a replica of a '27 Pontiac, but it isn't. Just titled that way.

My 250 in the '62 Chevy II, right after being dropped-in. It's backed by a aluminum Powerglide. At this point its all stock, but with a 'freshening'. In the semi-near future it'll be getting a couple more carbs. Should be good for torque and decent mileage...

Hey, we saw your roadster at Craig's in January and after Craig told us what you were planning it'll be a real head turner;) Next time we get over to Perth we'll have to come around to your shop for a look.

Love it. I started something similar but abandoned it when time and money got too short. Maybe later.

Love this thread which got me thinking, what would be the "best" in liner that you would rate for the following categories:

    Overall stock performance
    Ease of engine modifications
    Availability of performance parts
    Interchangeability ie different transmissions
    Cost for engine and parts

I think I'd have to agree - and all my straight sixes are Ford. The 250 uses the same bellhousing pattern as the Chevrolet V8s, (some) have detachable-intake heads available from the factory, and a number of aftermarket hop-up parts are still made.

I believe the Chevy 6 has the most interchangability, but there are a lot of dependable 4.9 Fords out there. A buddy of mine runs the mighty slant 6 "tower of power". He swears you can't hurt one. And, they're cheap! I'm running a 292/4speed in mine and have been pleased with the drivability and mileage. ~WX1

Anyone know where I can order high performance rod bolts for a Chevy 235, or any other engines that use the same size???

Struggling to locate any and it's holding up my build. I'm in the uk but don't mind ordering in from the US.

    Thanks, Mark
