No air filters, why?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by c-10 simplex, Mar 17, 2012.

  1. "Clogged filter = rich"---

Not true--***uming it was possible & logical to run a filter on a Blown & Injected Fuel Motor...(or any fuel for that matter)
Even with stack/port injection,a clogged filter would NOT cause a rich conditon.
Unlike a carburetor, the nozzels are below,or behind the throttle blades.
"Choking" a mechanically injected engine will make it stop running--- period,,,like right now.

GMC never ran any fuel motors . maybe you should go to a drag race and you might understand why they dont run filters. a fuel motor would **** that thing down and spit it out the pipes.

Yes, and to think the cam has only turned half that many revolutions.....

To calculate how far the pistons have moved in this same time period.....................(inches of stroke x 2 x number of revoutions)/12 = feet of travel

    1) i meant how did GMC handle the filter issue when they installed the blowers on truck engines?

    2) Regarding ****ing the filter down; i've noticed that the sand/mud draggers that run hats have an external filter but they don't seem to have that problem. Granted not all of them run nitro, but i'm sure alot of them run alcohol and i'd suspect the blowers are running similar boost numbers.

How much dust in on the drag strip???? They are constantly cleaning it, and prepping it. Hell your shoe sticks if you walk on it, so dust isnt going to kick up???? perhaps in the pits, like dragway 42 in salem, but most of us try to stay by the lanes where there is no dust either....

I have been runnin my Mustang since 03, no rebuild, no real wear. No air filter.

My pullin truck had a stack of filters on it, I was tryin to create surface area, so the air restriction was lower. The truck won 4 years in a row, amature cl*** in bowling green truck pulls, (nationals) 1998 to 02. its finally getting torn down and redone this summer by the new owner....

Keep this in mind, the engine is at wide open throttle, and air is flyin through it, its not stop and go, hot and cold, and dusty conditions. Very different running conditions not to mention constant oil changes, and plug changes.
