looking for a alum radiator to fit a 47 plymouth, going with a 360 mopar, currently has a worn out 318 and the original radiator in it now.im not a mopar guy,my uncles has asked me to get his car up and going for him so i need some advice on were to find the right radiator and not to expensive since this is a budget project.
Check this project: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=25364&page=3 You might find alot of useful info. The radiator is in post #138 .
Try an EBay search for Champion radiators. They have some aluminum models that are a direct replacement for the original Mopars.
Have you looked into having a modern core put into the old tanks from your original radiator. Early Mopar radiators can handle about any engine hooked up to them if they are in good shape.
This was the radiator used in the link from 73RR : http://www.usradiator.com/chevrolet-truck-1948-54-v8-aluminum-radiator.html
Still not hooking up?? It works ok for me, just tried it again. Shout out if you need help. It really is a great link given what you are working on. .
thanks guys, no the link still isnt working for me for some reason. the original radiator was configured for the 318 but its in such bad shape i wont bother using it. rodhotz....they are?
I ran a couple of different aluminum down flow radiators in my car for about ten years before I finally went nuts and built a whole new core support system and hung a huge Ron Davis crossflow. Up in you neck of the woods where it never gets to the average surface temprature of the sun like here in Phoenix, a basic down flow that fits the stock core support will probably do okay. Check out Speedway's catalog for their AFCO line. They are good quality and will last for many years. IF you do have a good traditional radiator shop in town they can recore the stocker and it will work fine with a more modern core. As for my deal, with a 19"x31" aluminum crossflow between the frame horns, a 420some HP aluminum headed 360 'tween the rails, and the air conditioning blowing icicles inside on a 120degree day, my car never goes above 195 in traffic... Took allot to get there though!
