I just purchased a 1950 Chevy Fleetline and I'm doing a brake job on it. The old shoes that are on the car now have a primary(small) lining and a secondary(large) lining. The shoes I received have all ,what look like, secondary shoes. Are these the right shoes for this car? The folks I bought the shoes from won't answer my emails plus, they might say they are the correct ones just so I wouldn't return them. In my manual it appears that the shoes are all the same size but, like I mentioned, the shoes on the car now are primarys and secondarys. Oh, they are the original Huck style brakes. Thanks, Bruce

My old brake books show equal length lining on both shoes. The Huck brake system is not a self energising like Bendix hence no need for long and short shoe lining. Even with Bendix it is possible to have long lining on the front[primary] shoe if the friction material is different from the secondary shoe.
Bottom line install what you have.

Thanks John, I'll do that. These primary/secondary shoes that are on the car now had me confused, don't know why they were put on it.

Someone didn't know the difference as John Evans pointed out above. And many later self-energizing 11" shoes will fit on your backing plates.
