OK I have never been to the Texas Round Up even though I live in Ft Worth only because it always falls on the same weekend as the NSRA in Oklahoma. So I have a couple of questions are there vendors there like at the NSRA? Thats one of the reasons I go. Second is there some type of put it on the street/cruise and drive like there is on Saturday on Meredian street in Oklahoma? And last being this late is there any chance of getting a room anywhere near the action?

There are a few vendors at the round up. That Friday night we take the rides down Congress for the cruise. Is definitely worth going to it. There are plenty of places to stay. I suggest somewhere in the Pflugerville area because the Travis county expo center is in north Austin. Anywhere near 183 will be fine I would think

The round up is superior hands down, but it's about cars and people. Not vendors. You're not gonna see a gigantic auto meter trailer or rows of LS1 engines for sale. You'll see a pretty fun swap meet, mini-bike dirt track races, more than a thousand cars, lots of art and good live music. Later in the days people will either hang out and camp at the complex or drive up to congress and cruise or park and walk and take in the party. Congress is a madhouse at night. For us in town it starts as early as tuesday or wednesday.

You can probably still get a room. I'd get it as close to Congress as possible...

I used to go to Ok. city, not any more. You cant beat the round up, and get to Congress early if you want good spot to park.

Yep, the Roundup is different than other events. There are vendors, and a swap meet, and loads of fine cars, food, music, folks, did I say cars?
    It has a mystique.

Go to the Round Up. Wish I could. Buy your parts from the HAMB vendors.

  12. Hell, I'm in OKC and don't go to the mini-nats!!! I prefer the round up over almost any other show.

  13. I sprayed Roundup on my neighbors kids pot plants ... wasn't in Texas though.

I'm a first-timer as well and I have to say.. Just from what the other people have posted on here and the picture threads, NSRA is nowhere as close to the level LSRU is on. I've never felt like the NSRA was as fulfilling as the LSRU will be.

Plus it looks like your truck in your avatar would fit in nicely..

Check out the website Lonestar Round Up to see some or the rides that show up for it, and to see the list of recommended lodging. There's a Facebook page too that has photos of the Featured Registrations. John Mumford is even bringing Sam Barris '49 Merc this year - the original Kustom Merc!!

You can for sure find a room. I booked a second room on saturday night last year, austin has plenty of hotels I recommend Motel 6 Austin Central - North #1344... very clean and cheap and there was a security guy walking around all night. I wouldn't get any hotel I couldn't park in front of my room, thats why I pick motels. I hear of at least one or two cars getting stolen each year.

I have been to the LSRU three of the last four years, and I am still mad I missed the one! The show is amazing if you are going for the cars and people. If you are more interested in the vendors, go to Goodguys..

Been to both several times. They both are descent. Alot more finished cars are at NSRA events. The merchandise vendors for NSRA are more commercialized @ LSRU most of the merchandise is one off. Black primer is the favorite color with LSRU...but last year there was a bit more variation.
My hope is that someone in charge will change the dates so people can attend both.
