Hi all, Need some thoughts here. I am restoring/rodding a '56 Ford F100. For the motor I am running the Y Block. It has an Edelbrock manifold with three dueces, finned valve covers and valley cover. An electronic distributor that looks like a magneto. Question #1: Stock rams horn exhaust or Sanderson headers? Question #2: Generator or Altenator? Does anyone make an alternator that fits inside a stock generator body? Question #3: Anyone running a C4 behind a Y Block? Thanks, Steven
1. Rams are a drop in fit and are also being repopped. Im using them in my 54 F350. 2. Genny is fine if you arent going to add a lot of current hog accessories. Ive gone both ways with Y Blocks. Check out this link. http://www.ranchwagon.com/tech/alt/alt.htm 3. Not yet but Ive heard nothing but rave reviews about the Flatomatic kit. I am building a Y powered altered for nostalgia drags and I'll be using their kit. I ran the Flato flathead C4 setup in my 26T and that was a trouble free install.
No hijack intended .... re-popped rams??? Where/who?? I have clearance problems on my '53 F100 with a 292Y that could benefit. Thx. papa al
Ive seen them on Ebay once in awhile, you might ask on one of the Y Block sites. Mine are originals, my block and rams came off a 64 F600 with the HD292.
Thanks for the reply and information. Is any C4 ok to use or are there better C4 models? Any idea who repops the exhaust manifolds? Thanks, Steven
Further to the transmission adapters. This fellow http://www.transmissionadapters.com/ford_y_block.htm argues that his kit is more verstaile and competively priced when compared to the the C4 exclusive adapter. I have not used his product by like the idea of using a C6 or AOD. I am still searcing for the rams .... you could try http://www.reds-headers.com/html/y-block_headers.htm if you want a header. Later, papa al
