having trouble geting my 49 packard out of nutral. 3 on the tree straight 8.gave me a probem once or twice but was able to move the linkage into place. got in one morning and it was jammed.worked fine 3 hours b4 parked . the dog ears on the shifter colom do not seem to be alined. so i remove the 2 links from the colom to pivit point to adjust the ears and reset links to proper length ... the ears dont move ... what els am i missing to adjust these ears? thanks
they don't move at all? and its in neutral? I had a chevy truck that liked to jam in second. trans was worn. sometimes I could get it unstuck with some LIGHT tapping with a hammer. once or twice I had to pull the side cover and slide the shift collars into neutral.
so my ears are off by about 1/4 - 1/2 inch . they are going to be lined up in the ****** is right? cuz i can get it from first to nutral and thats when it jams in nutral.
with all linkage off i have half the amount of throw from front to back(1st to 2nd but in the nutra position) on the shifter
