scored a really good deal today for my 12 yr old!. we stopped by a friends shop this week and was looking around when he said he had a henry j he was ready to move and that dude jumped all over my son! (me too but i was trying not to show it!) anyway we struck a good deal for my son...it cost me my '72 sportster! oh well wesley was beside hisself and that's really all that matters! also snagged a little hemi he pulled out of his desoto wagon. well here's a few pics!
Man wish my old man was that cool when I was a little chap. Keep us posted with what you guys are doing with it
he's already planning a straight axle nose bleed job on it! hopefully we'll have it ready for the 2013 hamb drags!
Congrats on the score. I'm sure he'll like this much more than that iron head. The really cool part is the father an son memories that will form from this project.
Very cool for your son. We have a 13 year old son of a club member who picked up a model A truck for his son to build. The expressions on these young kids faces when they realize they are getting into the hobby is awesome to witness. Well done!
my other son who's 15 has a real nice '53 divco that we are gathering parts for now to build this fall. the two have already been talking about towing the J to events with the divco! this is the quickest pic i could find...the model A is a camera *****...always trying to get in another cars pic! found another pic from when we picked it up in MN.!
oh and he said it had to have 3 pedals in it for it to be a real hot rod so i guess he's planning on snagging one of my 4 spd's!.....cool!
He is coming after me? Hell,, guess I'll have to find some time to actually get mine out and run it before 2013! Between the job and the kids activities,, hell I can't even find time to make it to the local shows! I guess 13 months might be enough time to get mine ready! Nice find! Lucky kid! Great dad!
You're doing the same thing I'm doing Tim...just doing it with 1 horse instead of a couple 100! What we do with our kids is all that counts man!
Very cool. Thats a great bonding moment. I remember when I got my daughters there cars at around 12. Have a blast!!!
