It is Easter Sunday and I am trying to "round up" our group and get on the road heading to Texas. Everyone is pretty wiped out from yesterday, we were all vending at Viva Las Vegas....so it remains to be seen how far east we will get today. More later.

This is the "valentine" diner in Winslow. I met the owners last year when they were starting to clean it up with talk of remodeling. Unfortunately it looks like progress has stopped and it is up for sale.

Well we are heading east from Gallup new Mexico and developed a vibration in the driveline so doubled back and found a local mechanic who is helping us. It looks like it may be a bad u joint.

Well no posts since Sunday morning. Here is how that happened....

Monday
Worked on the van until noon and hit the road thinking we had noise and vibration coming from the 9" ford rear end. Drove 523 miles to Wellington TX. Only stopped for food and gas; we were on a mission to Wellington. Planned on posting photos when we arrived but there is NO cell service there.

Tuesday-
Up early to work on the van. Figured out it was indeed a rear wheel bearing that seemed ok in Gallup new Mexico. Luckily bob Owens knew the right people and we were able to get a new one and have it pressed on the axle. Fixed and noise free by noon. Now the real work begins...

You see Last year when I was at Bob's I promised I would paint a sign on his replica of his grandpa's international harvester dealership. This is in his house/barn/workshop. Only 8 hours later and I was done. There was a great party going on about 10 feet below me most of the day but I kinda missed most of it. Still had fun and was able to look down on my friends while smelling one shot and lettering a very rough wall. Did I mention that the brick was the actual brick from the IH dealership?
Still no cell service Tuesday so no posting.

Today (Wednesday)-
Up early for the long drive to Austin. About 10 cars were in our group from Wellington. Bob lead the way (Bob drives fast like he is trying to loose you) so it was a "strap in and hang on" drive. We did make a really cool stop at big John Chadwell's place. He was recently on american pickers. Just got to the hotel in Austin at 8:30.
