I am super lucky I have great neighbors, maybe because I bought the scary house on the block and turned it into one of the nicer looking homes. I had a holly tree in my front yard ( yes holly bushes turn to trees) 36 inch trunk and about thirty feet in across, neighbor gave me 200 bucks for my time and effort . It was about ten feet onto her property. other neighbor split the cost of the cedar fence I put in and helped with the work.

Oh ya the ladys son is about 45 and his only daily driver he has ever owned is a 53 A.D drives it everyday. He got the truck from his father when he was 20 and has driven it since.

I'm digging this thread. Between FNG's and good stories, it makes for a good read.

I'm probably the bad neighbor. I happen to score a deal on a lot in one of those gated communities, and so now I'm the young gun with a loud hot rod that does late night hot rodding. Oh, and between life and school, I don't have time to keep a perfect looking yard. I don't let it go nuts, but I've got two dirt flower beds and a yard full of weeds...

Didn't I see in your thread that you watched a guy drive by in his Prius and he was giving you the stink eye for letting your AD sit out in the driveway?

Keep up the good work. ;)

    Lucky you.

I got a neighbor accross the street named Hatfield. That Hatfield he claims. Says he was a coal miner in Kentucky for over 30 years. Mentioned his lawn was grown by a golf course groundskeeper friend and to watch my dandelions.

Come to find out he's done time and is a registered *** offender. Likes little boys. Plural.

    No ********.

7am.. Lynyrd Skynyrd and a cup of Coffee... sounds like a great way to start a Sunday!

  7. I think it was actually a Thursday or Wednesday, but they are all Saturdays anymore. :D

For the most part it seems like there are way more good neighbors that usually on one of these threads. ****gy got the deal of a lifetime, I get coffee from about everyone that knows me, there are others that the neighbors come by to see what's up. Not so bad for our society.

There are a few folks in the world that just don't get it but the ones that do more than make up for it I suppose.

That was actually a little inside humor between the ****** and I. Hell, I used to own a Norton, and my dad owns a Vincent, an Ariel, a Triumph and a Morgan. The Morgan is pretty much like a Fordson tractor with fancy fenders...

My neighbors kick *** too...we moved to a neighborhood last summer that appears well, a little stuffy and I found out it's not that bad. Before we moved in but after I loaded the garage I caught two of them snooping on my projects through the garage window and made fast friends. One guy is finishing his 58 apache street rod, should be home next week. The other is a long time car guy and his wife busted out pictures of her '66 vette 427 that she bought new at 17, then her '67 chevelle SS and so on. Couple houses down is a '65 vette.

Down the street is a big hot rod shop owner...

The rest of them stare when my garage door is up and they can pound sand!

Getting ready to start looking for a house... Hopefully I don't get the house where a ****ty neighbor used to live. Or maybe I hopefully do, so I can be a savior of sorts! Hopefully I don't get the house next to any ****ty neighbors either, although that has rarely been my luck.

Outta sight / outta mind, a 6 foot fence will do that. You may be living next to a redneck if:

Your home all day ( retired ) but still wait until after dark to start mowing the lawn. Same for snowblowing.

You get in your car and drive circles around your tree in the backyard for fifteen minutes.

The only garbage you throw out are empty gl*** bottles each week. I'll let you be the judge on this one.

At least it's interesting for my friends to watch when they come over. In 12 years he's never said a word to me but my other neighbor said not to worry because he's been there 20 years and has got the same treatment. It could be worse so no major complaints here. :p

Well my crazy neighbor usually starts his **** when he starts mowing every year. This year is no different. He mows a piece of land that he dosen't own that goes right up against the garage property. This ****er knocked half my windows out with rocks when he was a kid. Its been almost 20 years of this. Hes got to be in his thirties now, living at home. He and his mother have made there way out of there yard into this property to cuss me thru the fence. Yea, we put a big fence. I have been called the s***bag of the earth and more. I really don't know where it comes from, other than me being a long haired hippy type, they christian conservative waiting for the rapture type.
Well , we come to the garage the other morning and there is a basketball goal and platform about 5 feet from my fence , not even on his property. There are no kids that come over there, I don't know who or what its for. He moved it there after at least 10 oclock at night. Hes a sneaky little *******. He use to spy on us working from the trees around the property when he was a kid. So now I guess I can keep all the basketballs that come over the fence, which will get it started for this year. I can also see my fence getting a few slats knocked out of it before its over. The cops don't do ****. They have called the police on me 3 times so far. They make life at the garage nervous. **** probably will start any day now, soon as the rain lets up.I do my best to ignore it.

The gal behind me has hedges about 3 times that size, they hang over the top of my 8' privacy fence at least as far as those are high.. Don't bother me none, makes for great shade and I need all the shade I can get in Texas.. I just trim it off when it hangs over the fence too far, in my case it hangs out over my side about 6' or so out on my side and 20-30 feet above it, I just keep it so it's over my head when I mow.. ;)

No neighbor complaints about air tools and stereo yet, even the new neighbors next door (old neighbors got raided by swat for drugs).. Most of what I get is the few other neighbors down the block coming by to see the neat old vehicles and motorcycles I'm working on.

If I were in your spot I might just put up a tall fence on that property line.

I have great neighbours. We have a large corner lot in the middle of our small town.

The north side is bordered by a major highway. Some people here can't understand why we'd want to live right on the highway, but it can be quite relaxing siting on the veranda after a long day watching all the traffic p*** by.

The south side neighbour has been really nice and doesn't mind all my car stuff. Since her husband p***ed away a couple years ago she hires me once in awhile to help her with work around the house that she can't do. She has a row of nice 25' tall Pyramid Cedar trees running along the property line between our houses so I can't even see her house.

Neighbour across the street is the Anglican minister and seems pretty cool.

Guy across the alley has a HUGE garage/shop and does woodwork stuff.

We all try to help each other out when we can and I try to keep the noise down after 9 pm.

I run a moving/delivery/junk removal business from the house and currently have two work trucks ('02 Durango & '06 Avalanche) plus two enclosed (6 x 12, 6.5 x 18) and one small utility trailer parked in the yard. So far nobody has complained about that, but I try to keep things neat and tidy around the property.

We've been in our for 6.5 years now, the neighbour behind me has lived there for almost 5 years.

He's known about the HRT since living there but only lately has started to complain.

The garage faces his bedroom and acts like a megaphone.
With two fours and no choke, have to rev the engine to 1200 to 1400 for about 4 minutes for it to warm up and hold idle at 900.

    He calls that excessive revving.

By-Law has come buy a couple times and left notices.

I ignore them as they have to have a sound meter and be there at the time.
I'm gone by the time they arrive.

The neighbour has pounded on the front door so he obviously doesn't hear me leaving.

I have a sound meter and have shown him that the HRT is legal, only 95 decibels, the law is for 96 decibels or louder. It should be fun this year once again.

Don't have a problem with any of the other neighbours.

I'm glad you're not my neighbor. Yes, I make noise in my shop and, yes, my exhaust can sometimes be annoying. I make it a point to be considerate of my neighbors and don't work with noisy tools after 8 pm. My exhaust note is reasonably quiet. My neighbor has a drag car and used to pull that 'just because they can't catch me, and I'm just barely legal' ********. We had some words. He slips on a set of gl***packs now when he does work at home and stopped doing burnouts in the middle of the road.

I work nights and have a hard enough time with the damned straight pipe Harleys that are on the road now that the temp outside is over 70 degrees. Imagine someone keeping your *** up all night making noise when you have to make a living and provide for your family. Now imagine it daily. Now imagine them being a smart*** and telling you they are technically legal or that they have to catch you to make you stop being a jerk to your neighbors.
