Im working on buying a car to bring back in NY but everyone i speak to doesn't know the deal. I have my own enclosed shipper who works for us and I want him to go get the car in Ontario and simply p*** customs and come back to NY with no delays or issues. Can anyone offer suggestions or a website to get real solid info before this becomes a total headache? Much appreciated.
It's returned US goods, ***uming this is a car that was originally built in the US, it should be pretty simple. Make sure your shipper has a p***port and all that ****, and a clean ***le to pick up to go with the car, that's about all you have to have. I went and brought one back once, it was a breeze. It's a lot tougher for a Canadian to bring one home, then it's being imported.
Nothing to it, bought my 60 Caddy on Quebec about 11 years ago, they just looked at the registration, and sent us on our way, no import stuff just a few papers to sign.
yeah but border control and security must be much different today with all the stupid **** going on in the world affairs. any websites i can be directed to?
I spoke to one company today they said they need to issue a bond, pick it up, leave at their warehouse for a week or so, clear it then on its way. Can take up to 21 days and i do not feel comfortable i just want to avoid all the h***le of the car getting damaged or stolen etc. Whatever fees i will pay no issues on that.
Shipped i will be sending my friend who is a licensed and insured enclosed single car carrier, he does all of these jobs for me and he never did a Canadian, US transfer these brokers are thieves, they wanted $900 for the bond and to pick the car up on an open hauler to then sit in a lot somewhere in Buffalo NY. The I need to still get it back down to NYC area.
