So I am in the process of getting the Merc ready for the first show, we are doing a 12V conversion as I'm just tired of dealing with positive ground and rebuilding generators! I went with a new 12V alternator that resembles the original generator. I recently acquired a 12V overdrive solenoid from a 1955 Studebaker, and now am looking at replacing the overdrive relay.
I have found one still in the box and was just wondering if anyone knew if it would work for me.

Does anyone know if this will be an easy replacement for me or should I just use the original and use a voltage reducer?

    Thanks in advance-

I would go with the 12 volt relay...it should work great. It's not that complicated; it works with the governor to bring the trans out of overdrive when vehicle speed drops to approximately 25 mph. Happy motoring, Frank

Another setup on electrical wiring using bosch type and a vw headlight latching relay. Have tried to post this several times for other post about a r-10 overdrive. Mines a chrysler type in my 50 4dr. but all brands are pretty much wired the same. Love it!
